Police were out in force at PCYC Queensland’s glittering night of nights.

More than 300 people attended the inaugural State Awards ceremony in Brisbane on Saturday night.

Among the guests were Deputy Commissioner Ross Barnett and Deputy Commissioner Brett Pointing.

It was the first time the PCYC has held statewide awards in recognition of its people and programs.

Deputy Commissioner Barnett presented the Crime Prevention Award to PCYC Mt Gravatt for a project encouraging schools to promote positive social behaviour and improve cross-cultural relationships.

Deputy Commissioner Barnett also presented the Award of Excellence for Programs to PCYC Beenleigh for an anti-bullying program for students transitioning from primary to high school.

Deputy Commissioner Pointing presented the Community Partnership Award to the PCYC Ipswich Maintenance Crew for their mentoring of young people.

He also presented the Emergency Services Cadets awards.
