Meet Kitsuko.
Kitsu is almost four-years-old. She loves superheroes, animals, art/painting, dancing, climbing, science, and meeting new people. She’s fearless, fun, outgoing, and intelligent. She’s one of the coolest people you’ll ever meet.
Kitsu is about to have the adventure of a lifetime: OUR FAMILY IS GOING TO FLORENCE, ITALY!
Kitsu’s mother, Maize, is an artist/art historian who has received Florida State University’s Florence Teaching Award. In Spring of 2016, Maize will be teaching art in Florence, Italy as part of FSU’s International Program. This is an incredible honor to receive, and wow -- what an opportunity!
The Florence Teaching Award covers airfare only for the recipient (Kitsu’s mother) and not for family members. Additionally, Italy requires roughly $4,000 per person in a savings account before a travel visa can be issued. We’ve been saving up, but Maize has been in grad school for the past six years, and Kitsu’s other parent (Moco) is permanently disabled.
At the request of Kitsu’s friends, family, and fans, we are setting up this GoFundMe campaign to specifically cover Kitsu’s expenses. All funds raised will be used for her expenses, including:
· Travel costs.
· Museum/gallery/etc. entrance fees.
· Winter clothes (we’re from Florida!)
· Specific educational materials for her “Kindergarten Abroad” experience.
Kitsu would like anyone who was going to buy her presents for the holidays, her birthday, or other occasions over the next year to donate to this fund instead. All donations will be presented to her as “tickets” (one of her favorite things!) that she can “spend” on things in Florence and throughout Europe as we travel.
All contributors who give us their mailing address will receive a hand-painted Thank You Card from Kitsu!
STRETCH GOAL: If we can raise an extra $300, Kitsu will get a GoPro camera to video blog all of her adventures in Europe. Keeping a video blog will be part of her school curriculum, and it will let all of her friends and fans back home experience the adventure!
