Oona Laurence, who starred in the Matilda the Musical Broadway show, has joined The Weinstein Co.’s film Southpaw.
The actress will play Jake Gyllenhaal‘s and Rachel McAdams‘ daughter Leila Hope in the film, which is being directed by Antoine Fuqua.

The film centers on a welterweight champion (Gyllenhaal) who fights his way to the top to find fame and success, but his home life deteriorates around him.
Written by Sons of Anarchy creator Kurt Sutter, Southpaw is produced by Fuqua, Alan Riche and Peter Riche.

Laurence starred in the hit Broadway musical Matilda as one of the titular characters, a role for which she won a Tony and was nominated for a Grammy. She recently wrapped a role in the indie films The Grief of Others and I Smile Back. She’s repped by CESD and ZOOM Talent Management.
