Do you get your animal Valentine's Day presents?
The One after the One, Animal Soulmates                           Feb. 2016
Greetings!

Tomorrow morning @ 11:00 am pst - I get to be the guest on the Elevated Existence Telesummit. This is my third year and rather than talking about animal communication, we are taking it up a notch and delving into the energy of your household, energy healing and an overview of some energetic techniques to help your animal companions. And yes, of course, animal communication is always at the base of that! Also, it is the debut of my guided meditation "The Gathering" - it is a meditation to blend with wildlife AND to create balance and harmony in your household. Sign up just to get the free meditation! There might also be a special offer - so don't miss it!

Not being a big football fan meant I accidentally scheduled my virtual retreat Death and the art of Crossing Over on the weekend of the Superbowl. Clearly, that was a no-no. (Who knew?!) Some people were willing to jump in! I have rescheduled for February 20 & 21st. Here are the details:

Crossing over is such a vast subject. The virtual retreat will be a journey into:

Learning how to connect with animals that have crossed over
Connecting with your own animals that have crossed over
Staying in that heart connection even when the grief is palpable
Being able to stay in what I call A State of Grace when other midwife animals (all life) into the next world
Knowing how to help the other animals in the household
Holding space for those between elder care and hospice

And much, much more. This virtual retreat will be full of great teaching, expertise on this subject, huge compassion, needed humor and can be done in the luxury of your own pajamas!

I'm offering the amazing early bird special through February 15th.

For those interested in the subject but can't quite commit, please join me on Dr. Linda Sanicola's radio show, Be the Best you can Be @ 9:00 am pst , February 10th, 2016. We will talk about:

Do animals grieve?
What is a normal time frame for grief?
What are some great ways to honor the deceased pet but keep the household buoyant?
What if my pet doesn't seem sad about the loss of their best friend?
How do I best memorialize my beloved companion?

Are the dolphins calling you? I still have room on the trip - I'd love to have you join us for the trip of a lifetime, swimming with wild dolphins in the Bahamas......

The One after the One, Animal Soulmates

The other day I got to connect with a beautiful horse, Mo and his rider Anna. Mo would be the "next" horse for Anna. While her previous Grand Prix horse hadn't crossed over, he had been retired and within minutes of the session, I realized that Anna was grieving the loss of the relationship.

She had partnered and learned everything she could about dressage on her prior mount, Essex. Anna had grown up riding so Essex wasn't the only big teacher in her life but he certainly embodied a soulmate role....or so it seems. And now she was not connecting as deeply as she could, or even at all with this guy Mo. It was creating frustration and irritation in her and Mo seemed to be shutting down.

While Mo is a late bloomer, he still had room to "give". Yet, he was not giving over. Potentially, he is very talented and elegant as a dressage horse, Anna found him to be very stubborn.

Whether you know what dressage is or your eyes are glazing over, this is common with every species and every discipline. I've heard people tell me they aren't connecting with the new kitten after the cat has died, the new puppy after the dog of 18 years has crossed.

Retiring an animal can be just as big a loss. The relationship had a purpose, there are routines, and both human and animal live with all the quirks of each other in that soulmate relationship.

I certainly never competed with Olivia (my 14 yr. old ½ Border Collie, ¼ German Shepherd, ¼ Rottweiler, 100% Scorpio) yet, to not take her on the pack walks anymore has been so painful. The other dogs and I dash out the door with reluctance in our hearts.

When the purpose, routines and quirks are fading away from your soulmate animal, it is hard to embrace the one after the one.

It's like dating that really nice guy after the passionate love of your life slipped out of your hold. It's a bristling feeling, a tightness in the throat, you can't get a full breath. It just ain't happening. Yet, there's guilt because of the occasional spark that lit you up with this new one or other one when things were really dim. Or when you had an inkling you would have to retire your soulmate friend.

It is truly one of the most common types of calls I get as an animal communicator. And, I can relate.

As I share in my first book, Communication with All Life, Revelations of an Animal Communicator (Hay House), my soulmate horse Pet One died after giving birth to Pony Boy. Pony Boy, by default fell into a soulmate role, because he was the offspring.

So when an ex-boyfriend gave me Gabrielle, a horse I adored as HIS horse, cared for and rode, it was not the same. It was painful.

She didn't even fit the bill for what I hoped to do with my riding. She fought me! She is an Aries, Arab and I'm a Leo - it was fire/fire.

Caroline Myss always says that a soulmate is not the one that takes you to a romantic dinner, and is easy breezy. A soulmate is the one that tests and stretches you.

And that, Gabrielle did. In fact, one horse trainer in Denver told her "You certainly have job security!" You see, for many years, my relationship with Gabrielle was about fighting, until in 1998, we discovered that she loved to teach all of my animal communication workshops. She was a rockstar back then. She continues to be. I had to get another horse to ride, because she had her job. She is the head professor of Communication with all Life University!!!!

And as time went on, I would get on her, sometimes it was fun. Sometimes it was so not fun. And then it dawned on me. Pet One was a Spiritual Teacher, for sure, but it turns out, Gabrielle really was my soulmate.

When I realized that about 14 years ago, it was as though a choir of angels chorused and the heavens opened up. I didn't have the same expectations. And that gave us room to grow OUR relationship. I ADORE her. She is my horse best friend.

Part of accepting the one after the one is to recognize the purpose even if it seems nonsignificant at the time. It is about finding new routines. And ultimately, finding joy in all of the new set of quirks.

Also, find ways that you can memorialize the One, even if the One is still alive. Creating mythology of the One makes that relationship an island and it honoring to both the One and the one after the one.

And as a little sidebar - if I knew how to do the graphics on that - Gabrielle must be going through her Saturn Return. Roughly, a Saturn Return is an astrological transit where your chart is similar to the astrological chart of your birth (revisiting karma and purpose). It is a life restructuring time that happens around 28, 56 and 84. Gabrielle is coming up on her 28th birthday this year and appears to enjoy riding!

Back to Mo and Anna......Anna realized in our session the other day that she may have such big feelings about her love and admiration for Essex that it was inhibiting her ability to connect with Mo. So, she promised to get off the phone and go out to the barn and connect on a soul level with Mo.

Below is one of the 7 times in the last 21 years that Gabrielle went along with what I was interested in!  Until recently!  Thankfully, I'm patient!!!!!!!!
