Women's Golf leads Alamo City Classic after opening round

San Antonio, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's golf team built a two-stroke lead on the opening day of the Alamo City Classic Monday in San Antonio. The Cru women fired a 315 team total and hold a two-shot lead over Schreiner University's 317 team score. Houston-Victoria is in third place with a 318, Southwestern University shot 326 for fourth place and tournament host Trinity University rounds out the top five with a 328. U.T.-Brownsville is sixth with a 339, Concordia Texas posted a 340 for seventh place, Trinity's "B" team is in eighth place at 342 and Texas Lutheran rounds out the field with a 369 team total.

 

McKenzie Ralston fired the low individual round for the UMHB women with a 76 for sole possession of third place. Deana Gonyea is tied for fourth place with a 77, Ashley Garbade's 79 is good for a tie for ninth place, Kaley Jackson shot 83 to tie for 20th place and Emily Ming carded an 87 for 31st place. Heather Shake of Houston-Victoria has the individual lead after an opening round 72 on Monday.

 

The two-day, 36-hole event is being played at The Quarry Golf Club in San Antonio. Teams will tee off for Tuesday's final round with an 8:30 AM shotgun start.
