Update – Manslaughter charge, Margate

Police have charged a 46-year-old man with manslaughter after a man died in hospital following an incident in Margate on Tuesday.

The 42-year-old man was transported to Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital after sustaining critical injuries during an alleged altercation in the car park of a Baynes Street unit complex around 5.30pm on July 29.

The man was pronounced deceased at the hospital yesterday morning.

A 46-year-old man was earlier charged with grievous bodily harm but the charge has since been upgraded to manslaughter and he is expected to appear in the Redcliffe Magistrates Court on August 4.

Investigations into the incident are continuing.

Detectives are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the altercation or have any information which could assist with investigations to contact Crime Stoppers or Policelink.
