Travelling with an infant can be tricky. But babywearing – that’s carrying your baby in a sling or carrier to you and me – could be about to make your life a whole lot simpler.

No longer solely the domain of ‘hippie mum’ types, wearing your baby has so many benefits, most of which go far deeper than merely having your hands free to do everything else on your to do list.

But there’s no denying the convenience when compared to the conventional pram – here’s why:

1. Never having to search round for pram friendly lifts often found in obscure corners of shops – escalators all the way for you my friend.

2. The Tube map is your oyster as there’s no need to stick to accessible stations.

3. That cute little coffee shop you thought you’d waved goodbye to is now a winner – just slide right in with your compact bundle.

4. A trip to your favourite Swedish furniture store will become infinitely easier to manage.

5. People will actually stop to coo at your little one’s meercat-like head poking out of the sling instead of dodging your pram in fear for their ankles.

6. A sling can be a whole lot cheaper than a fancy pram – that’s more pennies for gin.

7. Carried babies cry less – fact. Think of it as a gift to your ears.

8. If you have an older child to entertain, hands-free baby carrying can be a lifesaver.

9. Wearing your baby burns calories – all the more reason to eat that second slice of cake.

10. Using a sling can help reduce reflux symptoms – who doesn’t want fewer vomit stains on their clothes?

11. Babies that are carried are smarter, apparently.

12. Remember that time you were desperate for the toilet but didn’t know what to do with your pram? No longer an issue.

13. When else would you have two hands free when out and about? You no longer have to attempt pushing a pram whilst holding a coffee.
