2014-15 JSU MEN'S BASKETBALL SCHEDULEJACKSONVILLE – The Jacksonville State men's basketball team will play 16 home games, including eight non-conference matchups, in 2014-15, head coach
James Green has announced.
Along with the 16 home dates, the Gamecocks will also play two in-state road games, as well as games at NCAA powerhouses Louisville, Memphis and Air Force. They will also play a 16-game Ohio Valley Conference schedule that will see eight games in Pete Mathews Coliseum and eight on the road.
After a pair of exhibition games against William Carey on Nov. 4 and Columbus State on Nov. 10, JSU will get the regular season underway with a three-game road trip. The Gamecocks will start things off at Marshall on Nov. 14 before traveling to Louisville, Ky., to face the Cardinals two days later. The opening trip will conclude on Nov. 19 at Cleveland State.
JSU will then return to the state of Alabama, where it will play its next seven games, starting with the regular season home opener against Miles College on Nov. 22. After a Nov. 25 game at Alabama A&M in Huntsville, the Gamecocks will play three-straight at home against Savannah State, Fort Valley State and Winthrop before a Dec. 6 game at Alabama State. The home-state swing will wrap up with a two-game homestand on Dec. 14 at home against Dartmouth, a return game from JSU's trip to New Hampshire last season, and Dec. 16 against UNC Asheville, a return game from the 2012-13 BracketBusters series.
The Gamecocks will then take to the road for the Holidays, starting with a two-game trip to Colorado that will see them face Northern Colorado on Dec. 20 and then Air Force on Dec. 22. A Dec. 27 game at Jacksonville University will be the last non-conference tune-up before starting OVC play at SIU Edwardsville and Eastern Illinois on Jan. 1 and Jan. 3, respectively.
JSU will be at home for a stretch of five of six OVC games in January before being gone to the state of Tennessee two weeks, a trip that will sandwich league games around a Feb. 4 trip to Memphis.
The Gamecocks' league schedule includes visits from perennial power Murray State, Belmont, Austin Peay, Eastern Kentucky, Morehead State, Tennessee State, Tennessee Tech and Southeast Missouri. The regular season will wrap up the last weekend of February with a trip to Kentucky to face EKU and Morehead State.
The conference tournament will once again be at Nashville's Municipal Auditorium and will be held from March 4-7.
This year's schedule features eight home doubleheaders with the JSU women's team.
