Classes begin at the University of Portland (photos)

Today was the first day of the fall semester at the University of Portland, where 965 students from the class of 2020 began their college careers.

Classes also began at Concordia University in Northeast Portland, and Lewis and Clark college in Southwest Portland.

The University of Portland, in North Portland, has a student body of approximately 4,250 undergraduate and graduate students.

Each year on Veterans' Day student members of the ROTC units of the Air Force and Army stand in a 24-hour silent vigil at the Praying Hands memorial on campus, erected by UP students from the class of 1948, which recognizes former students killed in conflict.
