Who Is Your “Fourth Trimester Hero”?
The “Fourth Trimester.” It’s not a concept many people have heard of. Yet, once we enter it, that three-month period following the birth of a new child is clearly a time like no other. As our babies are adjusting to life outside the womb, we are finding our new normal as parents. With enough help and some luck, the fourth trimester can be a tender but sweet time. For many families, though, the fourth trimester can be lonely, frightening, frustrating or even traumatic.
Who are the people, especially in southeastern Michigan or northern Ohio, who step in to offer their expertise, companionship and caring to help babies and their families during the fourth trimester? Tree Town Doulas would like to honor these special people with the first-ever “Fourth Trimester Companion” awards! We hope to find people who live in the area and could come in person to be honored.
Is there someone who made all the difference to you in your fourth trimester? Someone who is making a difference in your community through their work with new families? We’d love to hear about them. They could be an individual or an organization whose special contributions to families with new babies are something that deserve public recognition.
