BFA welcomes internationally renowned Swedish flutist Gran Marcusson to Boston!  Marcusson maintains a busy international schedule as a soloist, performing in the USA, South America, Asia, and throughout Europe.  His debut CD, The Swedish Romantic Flute, received rave reviews and has been followed by six more albums. He has been guest principal flute with the London Symphony Orchestra, Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra Cadaques, and the Gothenburg Opera Orchestra.

Gran Marcusson burst onto the American flute scene in 1987, when he won First Prize in the National Flute Association's Young Artist Competition. In 1992, he earned his soloist diploma from the Music Conservatory of Gothenburg. That same year, he won a prize at the Vienna Music Competition.  Known for his inspirational and sympathetic teaching, Gran offers highly effective masterclasses. He and his wife, Gitte, host the largest flute masterclass in Sweden every October, called "The Nordic Flute." In the summers, he makes annual visits to the USA to teach at Wildacres Flute Retreat in Little Switzerland, North Carolina and to perform at the Newport Music Festival in Rhode Island.  Visit his website for complete bio!
