Central Islip, N.Y.- A stellar indoor track and field season came to a close on Saturday, one that culminated with 19 Georgian Court University representatives earning East Coast Conference All-Conference status and one, Octivia Booker, receiving ECC Indoor Track & Field Athlete of the Year accolades, as voted on by the conference's coaches.
Booker, a three-time ECC Women's Field Athlete of the Week, won numerous events for the Lions during the indoor season. In six meets on the year, Booker swept the long jump and triple jump in three of them, while also winning the long jump in a fourth. In addition, her best marks in the long jump (5.72m), triple jump (11.74m), and high jump (1.65m) all reach NCAA provisional qualifying marks.
Booker might have saved her best performance for the ECC Championship, however, earning Most Outstanding Female Athlete of the Championship in a vote by the coaches, as well. Booker earned a first place finish in the long jump (5.56m), triple jump (11.74m), was runner-up in the 60 meter hurdles (9.17), and finished in third in the high jump (1.65m) and as part of the 4 x 200 meter relay team (1:47.69). Her finishes earned Georgian Court 35.5 of their 113 points at the meet. Booker's triple jump mark also set an ECC Championship record.
