An eventful year in Britain has been brought to life in the shape of an exhibition showcasing the nation's best photojournalists.

Images shot on the campaign trail, at the foot of a burning Grenfell Tower and in the aftermath of some of the worst terror incidents to hit the country in a decade make up a new display on show in London.

The stunning collection of pictures, chosen by the British Press Photographers’ Association, captures some of the most iconic moments of 2016 and 2017.

Assignments will be on display until Monday at the Truman Brewery exhibition space in London’s Brick Lane.

A spokesperson for the association said: 'The British style of press photography is unique - and really needs to be seen on a wall for viewers to fully appreciate the variety, the quality and the impact that the photographic images bring to UK newspapers.

'It’s been an extraordinary year for press photography - with some fabulous pictures taken - so it should be an amazing exhibition.'
