Adult Education with Rabbi Mark Levin  Thursday, September 22

The Book of Jonah.” Why do we read Jonah on Yom Kippur afternoon, and is Jonah a part of our High Holy Day liturgy?  
On Thursday, September 22 at 7:00pm, Rabbi Mark Levin, our new Scholar-in-Residence will present the second class in our Adult Education series,“The Book of Jonah.” We are so pleased to welcome this distinguished scholar to the LJCC!  Join us for an informative and engaging discussion as we prepare for the High Holy Days.  Contact the office with any questions.
 
Pastoral Counseling with Rabbi Levin
Pastoral counseling appointments are available with Rabbi Levin from 3:30 - 5:30pm on the days that he has classes.  Appointments must be made a week in advance.  To make an appointment, email markhowardlevin@gmail.com or contact the office.
 
LJCC Serves LINK Thursday!
Our date to serve at LINK (Lawrence Interdenominational Nutrition Kitchen) is Thursday, September 22, and we need your help!  Please sign up to bring food, help serve, or help clean up.    We always need more help in the kitchen with serving and clean-up, and people to bring casseroles, bread and fruit!  Use this link to sign up:

High Holy Days Reminder - Rosh Hashanah Eve Oneg
Once again, JCW is requesting your help with the oneg following Rosh Hashanah eve services.  Please bring refreshments to share for the Erev Rosh Hashanah oneg on Sunday, October 2.  Have items ready for serving (cakes cut and on a serving platter, etc.).  Call the office with any questions.  


High Holiday Services at the LJCC
Plan to join us for High Holiday services beginning with Erev Rosh Hashanah on Sunday, October 2 at 7:30pm.  We are happy to announce that Rabbi Mark Levin and Cantor Benjamin Matis will be participating in some of our services this year.

Wise Aging Class – beginning Oct. 27 
Rabbi Levin has recently been trained and will lead a Wise Aging discussion group at the LJCC.  The book, Wise Aging, available on Amazon, will be our textbook. Participants must commit to all sessions and make a serious effort to attend. We have openings for 8 to 12 participants. Sessions will take place one Thursday per month, 4:30-6pm, for 8 months beginning Oct. 27.  The discussion group is free to members; nonmember fee is $150, and associate member fee is $50.  To sign up, contact Marty at ljcc@sunflower.com or 841-7636. Enrollment is already starting to fill, so don’t delay!  Deadline is Monday, Oct. 17, or when class is full.

Grocery and Gas Certificates
Help support LJCC by buying certificates to use Hy-Vee, Checkers and The Merc. LJCC receives a percentage of each certificate sold. Certificates also work to purchase gasoline at HyVee. In addition, you may register your Dillons Plus shopper card to benefit the LJCC as well. (See announcement above). If you would like to order certificates, please contact the LJCC office. Note: Delivery is an option! Contact the office for details.
