New Chattanooga Lookouts owner Jason Freier will be at AT&T Field on Thursday afternoon to announce changes that will be coming to the 6,340-seat facility built in 2000.

There will be promotional, operational and community initiatives launched as well.

"One of the big questions once we closed was how many days we had until opening day and what was realistic that could be done between now and then versus what we would love to do but couldn't in that time frame," Freier said Monday by phone. "Until we closed, we couldn't really firm up what we were going to be doing."

Freier did not want to offer specifics on the alterations, but workers Monday at AT&T Field were installing a deck behind the wall running down the left-field line. That area has housed picnic tables in recent years.

There could be enhancements coming to the suite level as well.

"I think the changes are something that will be noticed by everybody, no matter where in the ballpark you are," Freier said.

Taking on Tigers

One thing not changing with the new ownership is the annual exhibition game against Chattanooga State on the Tuesday before the Lookouts open their season. The 10th-anniversary meeting is set for April 7 at 6:15 p.m., and tickets are on sale for $5 at AT&T or through the Chattanooga State baseball office (697-2418).

Coach Greg Dennis's Tigers are 16-4 overall and 8-1 in TCCAA play after their conference sweep of Cleveland State this past weekend. They host the Shorter junior varsity today at 2 p.m.
