Six Unique Easter Brunch Options

Easter is rapidly approaching with another excuse to indulge in a hearty Sunday Brunch. With extended brunch hours and special prix fixe menus, Bay Area restaurants are elevating the holiday meal to new levels. Here are a few that caught our attention.

La Urbana
661 DIVISADERO ST, SAN FRANCISCO
Western Addition newcomer La Urbana celebrates its first Easter with extended brunch hours. From 10:30am-3pm, the kitchen will be dishing out Dungeness Crab Sopes Benedict and Totopos Chilaquiles, a traditional Mexican dish, while bartenders sling Mezcal Bloody Marys and the popular Morningcall. Those looking for a rich, savory experience will enjoy this rustic chic setting.

Cocotte
1521 HYDE ST, SAN FRANCISCO
This quaint Russian Hill establishment specializing in the art of French rotisserie will be open for brunch from 10am to 2:30pm. In honor of Easter, the menu will include items like eggs and pulled pork benedict, French toast, assorted viennoisserie and more. Big on quality but small on space, reserve ahead for a spot in the rustic dining room that, for the rest of the year, only opens for dinner.

1300 on Fillmore
1300 FILLMORE ST, SAN FRANCISCO
1300 on Fillmore bolsters its gospel brunch with a special prix fixe menu. Think elevated comfort food like barbecue shrimp and creamy grits, lemongrass-ginger house cured salmon with cornmeal pancake, and black skillet fried chicken with buttermilk whipped potatoes. Drinks include cocktail classics like the Harvey Wallbanger, Bellini and Mimosa. Festivities also feature live music and an Easter egg hunt.

The Old Clam House
299 BAYSHORE BLVD, SAN FRANCISCO
Take a trip back in time at The Old Clam House, the famed seafood joint that has served San Francisco from the same location since 1861. From 11am to 3pm, stop by and enjoy the basic $9.95 brunch alongside favorites from the full menu like hot iron skillet-roasted shrimp, mussels and crab.

Hopscotch
1915 SAN PABLO AVE, OAKLAND
Across the bridge in uptown Oakland, Hopscotch will serve signature American fare infused with Japanese flavor starting at 9am. Pick up a doughnut with butterscotch cream or stay and enjoy brunch staples like Soy Braised Pork Belly Benedict, Soba Biscuits & Sausage Gravy and Kimchee Fried Rice & Shoyu Eggs. New brunch cocktails include the Uptown Egg Cream with rum, orange blossom liqueur and chocolate bitters, and the Sleezy Steward featuring Tempus Fugit Vieux Pontarlier Absinthe rinse, Beefeater Gin, Tempus Fugit Kina L’Avion d’Or, Combier, blood orange segments and a splash of tonic. Brunch ends at 3pm.

A16
2355 CHESTNUT ST, SAN FRANCISCO
James Beard-nominated Marina destination A16 opens its doors for brunch and dinner on Easter Sunday featuring an a la carte menu with special items like ceci fettucine with braised sugo, fava and pecorino and roasted leg of lamb from Chef Chris Thompson, and variations on traditional Italian cakes from Pastry Chef Candance Rowan.
