LJCC Serves LINK!

The LJCC’s day to serve at LINK (Lawrence Interdenominational Nutrition Kitchen) is Thursday, February 23. Please sign up as soon as possible so we can make sure we have everything covered! We are especially in need of casseroles and people to help serve and clean up.

An Evening of Song and Opera

with Benjamin Matis, Tenor and Jack Winerock, Piano
 
JackBenWe are thrilled to announce a special concert featuring Benjamin Matis and Jack Winerock on Saturday, April 1.  This program, a fundraiser for the LJCC, will include German and Italian songs and Yiddish Theatre, some of which has not been heard in public for decades. Suggested donation $35 per person. A reception will follow the concert.  Tickets will be availble this week!  Contact the office at ljcc@sunflower.com.   



Donations for Refugees
The LJCC is joining with Jewish Vocation Services (JVS) in Kansas City in gathering donations for refugee families in the Kansas City area who have recently resettled in this area and have been impacted by the uncertainty of the current situation with regard to refugees. Items needed include gift cards, winter clothing, shoes and boots in good condition, new socks, blankets, household and cleaning supplies. Religious School Purim Event
The LJCC Religious School will again join with Temple Beth Sholom in Topeka for a Purim Celebration on Sunday, March 12.  The event will begin at 10:15am with family education and activities, and conclude with lunch and a carnival!  Contact the office for more information.

Women’s Voices:  Poems on Israel, Torah, Prayer and Politics
Thursday, March 2, 4:00 pm | Kansas Union: Divine Nine room
Dr. Rachel Korazim presents a compilation of women’s poetry, looking at poems of women expressing their nuanced connection to the land of Israel, offering their unique way of reading Torah, creating new individual poetic prayers, and speaking out in the political arena. Dr. Rachel Korazim is one of Israel’s most dynamic educators, specializing in Israeli Literature and Holocaust Studies. This event is hosted by the KU Jewish Studies Program, KU Hillel, Jewish Community Center of Greater Kansas City, Midwest Center for Holocaust Education, Hyman Brand Hebrew Academy, and the Jewish Federation of Greater Kansas City.
