Author Spotlight: Nick Courtright

Nick Courtright, the up-and-coming poet who recently released his latest collection Let There Be Light, has always been writing in some form or another. This Ohio native has seen his poetry published in respectable venues such as The Southern Review, Kenyon Review Online, and the Boston Review.

His most recent poetry collection Let There Be Light ponders the mysteries of the cosmos and contains many beautiful musings on the nature of spirituality itself. The language used in his writings allows the reader to waver back and forth on whether or not there’s ‘something more’ out there in the Universe or if the nature of our own mortality is confined to this one life. Courtright isn’t afraid to ask the tough questions, and that is what makes his poetry so compelling to read.

Courtright’s debut collection Punchline takes a similar approach by mixing elegant verses and deep philosophical questions. His writing celebrates the fact that there are just too many ‘unknowns’ in the world and while it is quite frustrating that the human race will never find the answers to all their questions, we should celebrate the unknown in both our poetry and our philosophy. Equal parts irritating philosophical ponders that would make Socrates proud and lyrical poetry, Punchline will have you walking away with a new appreciation for life’s mysteries.

Sometimes a fatalist, sometimes a deep thinker who can’t get enough of life’s unknowns, there’s one thing for certain: Nick Courtright is a talented writer who isn’t afraid to go beyond.
