CrossFit Southern Highlands was broken into between Saturday evening and Monday morning.
Inspector John Klepczarek from Bowral Police Station said it appeared a number of barbells and weight plates had been stolen, but nothing else had been touched.
This is the second time in a matter of weeks that a local CrossFit box has been broken into.
BentOn CrossFit, which is located less than a kilometre away from CrossFit Southern Highlands, had thousands of dollars worth of brand new lifting equipment stolen.
"There's nothing to suggest straight up that the two thefts are linked, however, we can't rule out a connection," Insp. Klepczarek said.
"We're asking the public and business owners to be vigilant and if anyone is trying to sell Pendlay or Alpha Fit lifting equipment to contact the police."
CrossFit Southern Highlands owners David Miller and Naomi Benedetti said the theft was like someone breaking into their home.
"What bothers us is who has been here and seen what we have," Ms Benedetti said.
"The thieves are either in the industry or a lifter because they know their brands and were selective in what they took."
Mr Miller agreed and said it was horrible to know someone had been in the gym poking around.
"The cameras didn't deter the thieves and security has now been upgraded," he said.
"We just want to thank the wider CrossFit community because they have been fantastic.
"We started a 'find our equipment' social media campaign and it has been shared more than 400 times in 24 hours."
Police investigations are continuing into the break in.
If anyone knows anything about the theft they are urged contact Bowral Police on 4862 9299 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
