There are Any Number of Foods You Can Cook With BBQ Grills That Can Also be Smoked

There are any number of foods you can cook with BBQ grills. From meats to vegetables to dessert items, BBQ grills offer the food enthusiast any number of tasty food combinations to complete entire meals. But when it comes to smokers, we tend to limit the foods we smoke to the basic meats, like ribs and chicken. That is not to say that ribs and chicken aren’t ideal smoking foods, they definitely are, but there is a whole list of other foods one might not consider when determining what to cook in their smoker. Lip-smacking, drool-inducing ribs and chicken aside, here are less conventional foods you should load into your smoker for your next BBQ.

If you hold more traditional holiday values, then you probably wind up eating a lot of turkey on Thanksgiving. Somebody pops the bird in the oven in the morning and several hours later the family gathers at the table eating a dry bird. And let’s face it, we are all guilty of dowsing our Thanksgiving turkey with gravy in an effort to add moisture and flavor. However, if you brine and smoke a turkey, you wind up with a bird that is juicy, full of flavor and absolutely delicious. But beware, once word of your scrumptious smoked turkey gets out, you will have friends and family inviting themselves to your home for Thanksgiving, so you better smoke two birds.

The list of ways in which you can serve potatoes is rather long. You can serve baked potatoes, scalloped potatoes, mashed potatoes fried potatoes and list the list goes on…and on. Try mixing things up a bit by serving this popular staple in a way many have never tried, serve smoked potatoes. In fact, here is a recipe for twice smoked potatoes that will have you wiping drool from your keyboard. The real beauty about this recipe is it calls for bacon. Everybody loves bacon. But bacon is also another food item you can cook in your smoker. Give it a try.

No meal is complete without a vegetable. As far as veggies are concerned, corn is probably at the top of the list as a favorite for most people, and corn on the cob is, at least in our opinion, the best way to consume corn. Forget about boiling your corn on the cob or even grilling it, step outside your comfort zone and smoke that corn. If you haven’t had the pleasure of eating smoked corn on the cob, you are missing out on some seriously good grub. When it comes to sweets, you will be surprised to know there are many types of desserts you can make with your smoker. In just a few short minutes, we discovered tasty recipes for smoked apple cobblers, smoked blueberry crumbles and even smoked ice cream. Take your pick.
