Assault Police, Fortitude Valley

Police have charged a man following an alleged incident in Fortitude Valley yesterday morning.

Police allege at around 5.25am in the Brunswick Street Mall they were attempting to take another person into custody for an unrelated matter when a 25-year-old man intervened.

 

The man was allegedly directed to move away, however, he turned and punched the 45-year-old officer in the face several times.

The officer received facial injuries as a result and received treatment at St Andrews hospital.

A 25-year-old man was arrested and charged with assault occasioning bodily harm and is due to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court today.
