Attention, Genre Filmmakers: Apply the Shudder Labs Horror Workshop

Shudder, the online streaming service devoted to all things horror, is launching a weeklong workshop for rising genre filmmakers. The company’s Shudder Labs will invite 10 fellows to come together in Hudson Valley, NY later this year for master classes, field trips and an intimate atmosphere to help bolster their budding projects. Each participant will graduate from the program as a Shudder Fellow and take home a $5,000 grant and a year-long mentorship from one of the Masters-in-Residence.

“We’re looking for exciting perspectives and a desire to do exhilarating things within the genre,” said Shudder curator Sam Zimmerman in a statement to USA Today. “The ideal Shudder Labs filmmaker is simply a filmmaker with provocative creative instincts that we feel we can support, develop and strengthen.”

The program is now open to any filmmaker over the age of 18 with at least one completed short film or micro-budget feature. Details and applications are available at the Shudder Labs website. The company is asking for all applicants to create a cover letter and artistic statement for their project. The application deadline is March 30, and the Labs will take place June 13-18.
