Winter 2015 Newsletter

An important part of my college career is figuring out where I will be the most effective in working with human rights in the future and the GYC program gave me a really good snapshot of how human rights are addressed and realized.

Re-Connecting in Cambodia

GYC's Executive Director, Jesse Hawkes, recently did field research in Cambodia for our upcoming program there, reconnecting with partners (including the Youth Resource Development Program) and hiring our international program director. He posted photos on Instagram along the way. See below and Stay tuned!

This poignant moment is from the new circus Battambang's theatrical piece in Siam Reap. The character portrayed by the young acrobat struck the classical dance pose to show the opression of culture during that period. But since the character's passion and a bit of luck enabled him to survive the genocide, the image reminds us that genocide cannot fully destroy a culture either.
