Happy First Day of Spring!!

WOOF!!!  First Day of SPRING!!!! is finally here!!  Been looking forward to this day for awhile.  I know- you think I'm crazy- well, it's more my human than me! ARF!

Today, Sunday, March 1, 2015 is actually the first day of Meteorological or Climatological Spring for the Northern Hemisphere- which includes us! WOOF!!  Try barking those two words 3 times fast! WOOF!

According to information I learned at the Accuweather and WeatherBug websites, Meteorological Spring is based on the Meteorologists (weather people) categorizing the four seasons by months of temperature changes, not the Gastronomical experience that many are familiar with. Arf?  Er, uh, I mean Astrological season most are family with- I think my human is more aware of a Gastronomical experience than anything else- sorry off topic-

Seasons are based on the first of the month of temperature changes. Spring begins March 1, Summer begins June 1, Fall begin

s September 1 and  Winter begins on December 1.

Why is this?  For several reasons, most important is record keeping.  Much easier to paw accurate records based on the months since the date for Astrological seasons changes yearly based on several factors which come into play which makes the record keeping a bit more difficult.

Another reason is across the globe you can begin to see the warming in March or the cooling beginning in September when Vern comes along and does the Vernal Equinox -

Ruffingly, I've been familiar with the Astrological season which is when the earths tilt on it's axis (hold tight!) is neither toward nor away from the sun so it marks the beginning of Spring on the evening of March 20.  Same event happens in the fall- but I won't go there- my human wants warm weather- even hot weather!

My human loves the first day of Meteorological Spring because is means we are getting closer to warm weather, and only a few more days, 20 to be exact, until the Astrological first day of Spring.

For now, it means any snowstorms with accumulations will generally not stay around forever- like snowstorms in colder months like January.
