NORFOLK, Virginia – Jamie Dell's second goal of the evening lifted UNCW to a 2-1 overtime win over former Colonial Athletic Association rival Old Dominion on Saturday at the ODU Soccer Complex.

The Seahawks finished their three-game road stretch with a 3-0 mark and improved to 5-1-1 on the season. The Monarchs, who had a three-game home winning streak snapped with the loss, dropped to 3-3.

"Tonight was a very good college soccer game with two good teams both committed to trying to win it, which made for an entertaining match," said longtime UNCW Head Coach Aidan Heaney. "I was tremendously proud of the way our team dug in and found a way to get the win. We knew ODU would our toughest test yet and it proved to be so."

Dell ended the game 6:40 into the first overtime on a long pass from Michael Mecham. It was his third game-winner of the young season and gave the Seahawks their first win over the Monarchs since2009 and their first win in Norfolk since2006.

"Jamie Dell was very opportunistic tonight to score two goals. Colin Bonner's play was outstanding and I am sure anyone watching was super impressed with him. Sean Melvin also made a couple of key saves tonight at important stages of the game."

Ryan Condotta opened the scoring in the 12th minute for the Monarchs off a free kick by Nicholas Hutchinson. It was Condotta's second goal of the season and gave him the team lead.

Dell, who took over the team lead with four goals, would answer for UNCW in the 19th minute when Jacob VanCompernolle found him on a long throw in.

UNCW's two goals against ODU were the first by an unranked team this season. Goalkeeper Alex Tiesenhausen had allowed single goals to nationally-ranked opponents Virginia and UNC Chapel Hill. Tiesenhausen finished with six saves on the game.

Sean Melvin, meanwhile, also finished with six saves and improved his record to 5-1-1. He lowered his goals against average to 0.80.
