Deals: VSC picks up Patch Town

Video Services Corp

Video Services Corp (VSC) has picked up the Canadian distribution rights across all platforms for Craig Goodwill’s debut feature Patch Town. The comedy adventure film stars Zoie Palmer, Rob Ramsay and Julian Richings, and is based on a short of the same name that premiere at TIFF in 2011. Patch Town will have a theatrical release in Canada and the U.S. in 2015, but the name of the U.S. distributor has not yet been released. Patch Town is produced by David Sparkes, and executive produced by Mark Montefiore. The VSC deal was negotiated by Craig Goodwill and Jonathan Gross.

Egmont Publishing has signed a deal with DHX Media for the international rights, outside of North America and China, to produce kids magazines and books based on the next season of Teletubbies. As part of the agreement, Egmont Publishing will produce a number of published formats for the Teletubbies brand, including themed story books, sticker, colouring and activity books, annuals, sound books and a stand-alone Teletubbies magazine. The publications are expected to start rolling out in the spring of summer of 2016.

Lionsgate

Lionsgate and CBS Films have struck a multi-year distribution partnership that will kick off with the 2015 release of the teen comedy The DUFF, the companies announced Thursday. The agreement will see Lionsgate oversee distribution across all media, including home entertainment and theatrical, of films produced or acquired by CBS Films. CBS Films will continue to handle the marketing efforts for its films, and will still self-distribute some of its own limited release titles. The DUFF, starring Mae Whitman, Robbie Amell, Skyler Samuels and Bianca Santos, is currently set for an early 2015 release.
