Fans are counting down the days until Star Wars: The Force Awakens hits theaters, and it turns out, one of the stars of the film is playing the waiting game as well.

“I haven’t seen the movie,” John Boyega told E! at the Film Independent Spirit Awards Nominations press conference on Tuesday, where he and Elizabeth Olsen revealed the nominees for the 2016 awards show.

“I haven’t seen the movie cut together,” added the actor, who plays a former Stormtrooper named Finn in the film. “So it will be fun when I finally do.”

But Boyega, 23, admits that the anticipation is starting to get to him.

“We’re so close. Oh my gosh, we’re so close,” he said.

Even though he’s had a few opportunities to see the film at limited screenings, Boyega says he’s holding out to experience the premiere with the rest of the world.

And with less than a month to go before the official release date (Dec. 18), there’s still little known about the plot of the movie. The J.J. Abrams-directed film has been shrouded in secrecy, leading fans to theorize about what might happen.

But there is one person who Boyega couldn’t help but spill some of the secrets to: his mom.

The only problem? She’s not exactly one with the Force.

“She doesn’t know anything about Star Wars,” he explained. “I tell her but it just doesn’t excite her. She’s like, ‘Are you in it? That’s great.'”
