‘Dancing With the Stars’: ‘Spring Break Special’ [Recap]

Dancing With the Stars

Dancing With the Stars

Tonight on Dancing With the Stars, the excitement of Spring Break was in the air, as the episode was called Spring Break Special. The remaining eight celebs had to perform one unlearned dance and also participate in a team dance, and the songs that they danced to were supposed to go along with the Spring Break theme of the episode. The Viennese Waltz was also introduced for the first time this season.

The first couple to dance on Dancing With the Stars tonight was singer Patti LaBelle and her partner, Artem. They danced a Quickstep to the Martha and the Vandellas classic hit, Heat Wave. Last week, they got a 27 from the judges. This week, they did a terrific job, starting off the night right, and were awarded scores of three 7s and one 8, for a total of 29 out of 40 points.

After their performance on Dancing With the Stars, Olympic gymnast Nastia Liukin took the stage with her partner, Derek Hough. They performed a Tango to the Calvin Harris song, Summer. They NAILED this dance, and wowed the audience and the judges with their performance. They earned scores of two 8s and two 9s, for a combined total this week of 34 big point, placing them in first place, for now.

Then, on Dancing With the Stars, the third couple to grace the stage was Willow Shields and Mark Ballas. They performed a rousing and sexy Salsa dance to Xavier Cugat’s big hit, Tequila. They were awarded exactly the same scores as Nastia and Mark earned, tying them in first place with a score of 34 points.

Next to perform on Dancing With the Stars was the Shark Tank celeb, Robert Herjavec, and Kym Johnson. They danced a pretty good Jive dance to The Beach Boys oldie but goodie, Surfin’ Safari. Though they did a pretty good job, the judges just gave them scores of four 7s, for a total of 28 points, placing them in last place.

Combat soldier and personal trainer, Noah Galloway, was the fifth celeb to dance tonight on Dancing With the Stars, with his partner, Sharna Burgess. They danced a Rumba to Waves by Mr Probz. Noah has been an inspiration to viewers all around the country, and even a favorite of Captain Kirk, himself, William Shatner. They received scores of three 7s and one 8 from the judges, for a total of 29 points, ensuring that they were “safe” this week from being eliminated.

After Noah and Sharna performed on Dancing With the Stars, actress and singer Rumer Willis danced a Jazz dance with her partner, Val. They performed it to Destiny’s Child’s song, Bootylicious. Though they did not impress the judges as much as they did last week, when they got a score of 39, they still did a terrific job. They received one 7, two 8s and one 9, for 32 points.

The Bachelor star, Chris Soules, and Witney Carson, danced next on Dancing With the Stars. They were the only couple to dance a Viennese Waltz, performing it to the Olivia Newton-John hit, Hopelessly Devoted to You. They were pretty impressive, receiving scores of one 7 and three 8s, for a total of 31 out of 40 points.

The final couple to dance, before the team dances, on Dancing With the Stars was Riker Lynch and Allison Holker. They danced an enticing and sexy Samba to Jason Derulo’s song, Want to Want Me. The judges gave them the highest scores of the night so far, one 8, one 9, and two 10s, for a total of 37 points, placing them in first place.

Then, on Dancing With the Stars, it was time for the team dances. Both teams danced Freestyle dances. The first team to take the stage was Team YOLO, composed of Nastia and Derek, Willow and Mark, Robert and Kym, and Noah and Sharna. They were all AWESOME, dancing to The Surfaris classic hit, Wipe Out. The judges really liked the performance, and rewarded the dancers with scores of one 9 and three 10s, for a whopping 39 points.

The second team to dance on Dancing With the Stars was called Trouble. They danced to the Iggy Azalea song, featuring Jennifer Hudson, of the same name. They were equally AMAZING, and the judges gave them exactly the same scores, for a combined total of 39 points.

The time arrived, at the conclusion of Dancing With the Stars, for one of the celebs to be eliminated. Though they received 29 points tonight, which is usually good enough to prevent a couple from being eliminated, Patti LaBelle and Artem, sadly, were the ones eliminated tonight. It was a great episode of Dancing With the Stars, and Patti performed one of her best dances yet this season. One of the celebs had to be cut, but sometimes the logic of who gets eliminated is a bit difficult to understand.
