Davis Claims GSC Player of the Week Honor

Freshman Drilled Five Home Runs Last Week

Davis has smashed five home runs in just eight collegiate starts.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Freshman slugger Hallie Davis has been named the Gulf South Conference Softball Player of the Week after a monster weekend at the plate for the Lee softball team.

Davis, a local product from Walker Valley High School, started things off on Thursday with a home run, a triple and five RBI as the Lady Flames fired past Montevallo, 18-7.

Davis continued to roll down at the Gulf Shores Invitational, which began last Friday. Lee played five games in three days and finished the event at 3-2. Davis was 6 of 18 with four home runs, one double and eight RBI.

The left fielder has hit five home runs in just eight collegiate games and capped off the Invitational on Sunday with a pair of home runs as Lee swung past Tuskegee, 14-5.

Davis and the Lady Flames will look to keep the bats hot as they begin their first offical season of conference play on Saturday against West Florida. The two clubs will play a doubleheader starting at 2 p.m. before wrapping up the series on Sunday with a single game at 2 p.m.
