San Diego Mayor Kevin Faulconer will today announce a new deal to keep Comic-Con International in San Diego through 2018, the San Diego Union-Tribune reports. The official announcement will be made during a news conference later today.

Comic-Con and the city of San Diego were locked in back and forth negotiations to keep the event in the city. The negotiations largely revolved around local area hotels' willingness to hold their prices, which tend to spike during convention week.

The final deal managed to get commitments from the more than 50 hotels in the area that are part of the conventions' discounted rate block to keep their prices at the same level as laid out in the previous agreement.

Comic-Con International: San Diego 2015 takes place July 9-12 and the San Diego Convention Center.
