2016 Top 100 Elementary Schools in California

A ranking of the Top 100 elementary schools in California was released by Niche this week. Palo Alto Unified School District pulled off a stunning sweep of top spots. According to Niche, the Top 11 spots are taken by Palo Alto schools. The 12th elementary school in the district placed in the Top 25.

Dr. Glenn “Max” McGee, Superintendent of PAUSD told Patch, ”We are incredibly honored that our schools have received this wonderful recognition. It is a testament to the hard work of our faculty, students, staff, and our very supportive community who share our vision that is empowering all of our students to reach their fullest intellectual, social, and creative potential.”

Other districts around the state also received recognition.

Niche bases its ranking on “a comprehensive assessment of the overall experience of a public elementary school. This grade takes into account key factors such as the strength of academics, quality of teachers, diversity, as well as the overall quality of the school district.”

The specific criteria for rankings:

• Academics Grade: 50%
• District Overall Experience Grade: 20%
• Teachers Grade: 20%
• Student Culture & Diversity Grade: 10%
