Sweet Southern Secrets

Rate this book
Dex Mitchell has wanted to play baseball for as long as he can remember. His life was going exactly as it should until a failing grade threatens it all. Dex has no choice, but to go looking for help and where better to look than the quiet girl that sits next to him. If Dex can get her to agree, he might end up needing her for a whole lot more than just tutoring.

Callie Fisher is scared, timid, and being held captive by a night that turned horribly wrong. She's happy being invisible to people around her. Except for the guy that sits next to her. He's always noticed her and now he needs her help. What Callie thinks is supposed to just be a couple lessons in the stars turns into a whole lot of unexpected. Callie never anticipated that agreeing to help Dex would in turn help her also.

These two come together when they need it most, but as the rules change can they still win the game or will secrets give them a loss?

I really enjoyed this. If you like YA with some good steam then i believe you will like this as week. The story was good and I loved the hero and the h. The secondary characters were great as well. The h has two sisters ( they are triplets ) and then we have the hero's best friends/roommates. I love that his best friends will be set up with the sisters and that we didn't have to witness the guys whoring around. Okay back to the story. It's about Callie and Dex. Dex is failing a class and needs a tutor, he has noticed Callie in his class not just because she is beautiful but also because she gets good grades. He decides he is going to ask her to be his tutor. Callie has noticed the guy beside her always stares at her but she had a traumatic incident happen a few months back and is staying away from everyone. Once Dex convinces Callie to tutor him the relationship happens far. From there we get some surprises.

This author is new to me but i will definitely be reading more from her especially this series. I'm very excited to see who is next this book basically sets up the next two books so I'm not sure who the next one will be about. I'm really hoping it's Cayden and Zac, I really interested in their story I just hope it is safe.

Safety Note: this book is completely safe, there is absolutely no ow/om even with the surprise we get which was great. No sexual abuse happens in this book but the h was almost raped before she was saved, we only get little flashbacks and they aren't bad

I will make a big embarrassing confession. I started reading this because of the baby girl wearing a leopard outfit on the cover. Buy at 10% I already regret this decision. It looks like it's a short book. But I'm not happy with the way it started. Now, the winning question: should I keep reading... or not?
I'll make this decision in a full stomach. So, later...

UPDATE late at night: I decided to finish it because it was a short story. Surprisingly, it became a light read with female mc getting over an attempted rape by tutoring/ dating the hero (he deserves the title lol) and while helping him take care of his surprise baby girl who was left at his door. So far It was a solid 5 stars. For the good feeling and the baby girl.
But after the plot device the author used to create drama and fabricate the "required" break up I was so annoyed I'm giving 1 star. It ruined the whole story for me. The female mc was acting so mature for her age -18 years old-what made me so happy but then, the childish, immature behavior had to come with full force. And crashed the story and my rate down Too bad, 1 star it is.

I purchased this one last year when I got to meet the authors at Kinky in Kansas City, a romance author convention that sadly is going to not go on after this coming summer. The authors of this book were the hosts of this convention. This awesome convention is where I met Amy Daws for the first time, as well as the cover model Jonny James, just to name a few of the awesome people! But anyway, I hadn't read these two authors before, so I purchased this book. Now, normally I'm not the biggest fan of the baby on the cover like this one, that often turns me away. But the synopsis sounded most like what I'd be interested in reading so I bought it. This book had the same things about it that my friend's book has that I know has to do with self-publishing. That is where the 3 stars comes in. It was an okay story, although I guess I didn't read the synopsis that well, because the whole baby plotline was not what I had assumed it was going to be, it went a whole different direction. I don't know if these are authors I'll read more in the future by or not, but I won't say that I won't. It would be fun to see where the other Georgia Peaches stories take them.

I have read Colbie's work before but I am new to Chianti's and figured I would give this duo a shot. I mean come on the blurb reels you right in and the book will keep you right on the line. This book had me hook, line and sinker. I absolutely LOVED this book. The story line is one that had me engrossed from the beginning and if that wasn't enough you will fall in love with not only Callie and Dex but with her sisters, his friends and their mother!!!

Callie has been looking forward to going to college with her sisters forever, that is until a fateful night that turned her world upside down and had her turning into someone she isn't. She is no longer the happy 18 year old that she was. She is now a recluse that goes to class and comes home. That is until she comes face to face with Dex. Her life is about to take a 180 and hopefully she is open to what lies ahead.

Dex is a baseball player at college on scholarship but that is about to go up in flames if he doesn't raise his grade in Astronomy class from an F. He needs a tutor and decides to ask the pretty girl that sits next to him who always has stellar grades. He has been not only bored out of his mind in this class but she is a distraction that draws him in everyday. He never expects the reaction he will get when he asks but he isn't about to let that keep him. He is determined to have her not only tutor him but he wants more as well. But things are about to get complicated for him and he has a secret that could ruin it all.

I highly recommend this book. Not only is it a sweet and emotional read but you will be laughing and in tears as well. This book has it all and I really, really can't wait to get the sisters stories as well.

Sweet Southern Secrets is the perfect title for this book. The story was just that, sweet, and full of secrets. This was an amazing debut full-length novel!!

Callie has been through the unimaginable and tries her hardest to be invisible. She’s just trying to get through college unnoticed. Too bad the boy that sits next to her in astronomy doesn’t take the hint.

Dex is a baseball star. He lives and breathes baseball but when his grades are lacking, his dreams may come to a halt. He asks the girl he can’t take his eyes off of (Callie) to tutor him but she has her reservations.

Callie agrees to tutor Dex but has some ground rules but as time goes on the study buddies end up having a great relationship but can it withstand the secrets??

This book had me hooked from the very first paragraph. I had the warm fuzzies throughout the book. Don’t get me wrong there were some dark spots and sometimes I wanted to slap the heck out of Callie but I loved her character. I loved how Dex was instantly Callie’s protector….that is so hot.
The family dynamics of the characters were amazing. Even Dex’ roommates were there for him and Callie. I loved Callie’s sisters, which I must say that I sure hope we get their stories SOON!! Anyways, this was a quick read because once you start you won’t want to put it down…I know I didn’t.

I loved this book. Its so upbeat and emotional and hot all in one.
You have Dex he is playing ball and going to school on a scholarship. But he has to keep his grades up to play or he will be benched out. There's one class holding him back. Astronomy! But the cute girl sitting next to him is getting awesome grades and he needs some tutoring.
Callie had an frightening incident before she left to go to college with her 2 sisters. And from this incident she crawls inside herself and doesn't dress like she used to or do anything at all. She goes to school and tries to be un-noticed. It doesn't work. The good looking guy in Astronomy that sits next to her is about to shake her world.
The characters in the story are so well developed and you will fall in love with all of them. As you read this you feel your right there with them. The emotion is so strong and the love between sisters is amazingly strong. I gave this 5* because it deserved everyone of them. Both Colbie Kay and Chianti Summers have wrote a book together that will draw you in and when your done you will be wanting more. This book ROCKS!!

What a sweet romance! Callie Fisher is outgoing, gorgeous, and smart. After a night of tutoring and fresh out of High School, she is attacked. Even though she was saved, the effects of that attack follow her to college. Her self confidence is shattered and she's no longer the vibrant, outgoing girl she was in high school. In college, she is withdrawn, goes to class, and goes straight across the street to her apartment, which she shares with her two sisters.

Dex Mitchell is going to college on a baseball scholarship. He's going to school against his parents wishes. He's doing fine except for one class, and if he doesn't pass it, he will lose the scholarship and he's off the team. He goes to Callie to ask about tutoring. Callie takes a chance and decides to tutor him; Dex senses something traumatic happened and he's very sensitive to her. Then Dex is thrown for loop when a baby is left on his doorstep.

This was a sweet college story. The interactions with Callie's two sisters and Dex's two roommates is hysterical. There are many secrets, but the developing trust and relationship between these two is heartwarming and can withstand the trials sent their way.

I was pulled right into this story. The story has laughs, pain, secrets, and heartbreak.

This is Callie and Dex’s story. Callie is at college with her sisters but after one night that started so great turning so nasty she retreats into herself. She goes to classes but does not talk to anyone. When Dex comes to her asking her to tutor him she knows she has to say no. The Last tutoring job caused her too much pain. But Dex is sweet and agrees to all her crazy rules for the tutoring. The more time they spend together the closer they get. As they start to form a relationship there are thrown a curve with a baby. He is now a single father trying to take care of a baby he never knew he had. The baby makes them grow even closer. But Dex has a secret he is keeping. When Callie finds out the secret by accident she does not want anything to do with him. After all he has been lying to her. Can Dex prove that he loves her and never meant to hurt her? Or will he have to let her go?

I loved these characters and the side characters. I felt I could connect with the characters and the story was a great read.

I recommend this book.

I liked Dex. Callie was still struggling with what happened to her over the summer. I think for me I'm realizing that I'm too old to read books with characters under 21. Maybe I just need to reset my mind to my college days or at least my wild sisters. Dex literally gets a surprise left on his door step. Not just Callie but her whole family falls in love with Raine. I was waiting for the bio mom to show back up once she noticed he wasn't struggling like her. It is sick how some women try to trap guys into fatherhood. Why set that child up for a possible asshole for a dad or one that might resent them since they were from a one night stand? You don't know what kind of father they will make so why risk that. I didn't even know what kind of father my husband whom I was with 9 years prior to children would truly make. I had ideas and I knew he'd love our child but how hands on would he be. Lucky for me 14 years post our first child he's amazing. Hoping Cayden and Cydney hookup with Zac and Mav.

The Georgia Peaches are brought to you by writing duo, Colbie Kay and Chianti Summers........if you have read the 'Hot Wicked Romance Anthology' you may have met the triplets Callie, Cayden and Cydney already.
The girls are moving onto the next chapter in their lives, university, it should be an exciting time for them all, but a traumatic experience had left Callie a shadow of her former self.......moving through Uni life as best she can.
Then in Astronomy 101, she gets partnered with Dex........what follows is a beautiful story of friendship...and so much more!......add in that adorable baby, Raine....heart melted! Dex has a secret that could change everything between them.......and its not what you think! It definitely threw me for a loop! I was rooting for this couple from the start and really wanted them to get their HEA!
Cannot wait to read more from this duo.......and did you see that cover?!! Go add this to your TBR!!

Started out great

I love a good story. The thought of a book about 3 sister was a new one for me. I only read the first story about Callie. It began really really good, graduating, a tragic incident that was thankfully stopped and off to college. The storyline was really good all the way up till she tutors Dex for the first time. Seeing how she is reluctant to ever tutor again or be around men. Callie allows Dex to touch her on the first tutor session. After that the story became really mundane. I hate to say it but this story had so much potential. I did manage to finish reading the story because I hate starting one and not finish it. Unfortunately I will not be buying the next story about the 3 sisters. I think I will look this writer up since it was my first book by this author. I believe one story does not mean they are a bad author. I hope to follow up on the next story with a better review.

Dex Mitchell – college baseball phenom finds himself in need of some tutoring in order to remain on his team and keep his scholarship. He notices timid, withdrawn Callie Fisher in class, and is drawn to her. Has spent enough time observing her to know he wants her as his tutor.
From the first he is protective of her and gentle with her all at the same time. Making her trust him, which is is something she never thought she would be able to do. As a romance between them progresses, a serious wrench is thrown into their budding relationship. Instead of running away from each other the stand by each other and work together to doing what’s best for everyone. There is, however, a secret lurking between them that Callie is unaware of. Once she finds out that’s the last straw. Will Dex let her go forever, or will he fight for their future?

Really enjoyed is first installment of the Georgia Peaches. Looking forward to the next.

Callie is nothing like the girl she as when she first set foot on campus. One awful night has changed her and the nightmares won’t let her forget. Dex eats, sleeps, and breathes baseball so when a failing grade threatens to take that away, he will do anything to turn it around. Asking a pretty girl to tutor him isn’t anything to complain about but when a major secret is literally left sitting on his door stop, his life is tossed and Calle’s along with him.

This a sweet read. The relationship that builds between Dex and Callie builds slowly but also has some major bumps that push you along in their story. Dex isn’t the overly alpha type but he is protective. There are a lot of serious moments but they mix well with a lot of light moments.

I look forward to following on with the other two sisters.

Perfect book to pick up if you are looking for a quick read.

I don't normally read sports/college romances but this one is by a newbie author Chianti Summers and Colbie Kay who I am familiar with and I love discovering new indie authors so I thought I'd give it a try.

The idea of triplets, momma and hunky tatted baseball players is original and the story relevant to what's happening today on college campuses around the country. Since most college stories revolve around party life it was refreshing to see someone actually trying to pull good grades and study hard for them. Of course having a hot tutor helps! I like that family is the central theme, being there for each other and working through the rough spots. Alot can be learned from that lesson and I think these ladies laid it out beautifully.

Thrown in some hot sex, sports bars, astronomy and voila Sweet Southern Secrets is born! Congratulations ladies! Very well done!

Colbie and Chianti bring you the Georgia Peaches. If you read the Hot Wicked Romance Anthology then you got a sneak peak at the Georgia Peaches already. Now Colbie and Chianti are bringing you each sisters story. In Sweet Southern Secrets we have Callie and Dex.

Dex is a sweetheart that any female would fall for. Baseball is his life but when he's failing a class and the threat of being benched is in front of him he needs a tutor. Callie, is not the same person she was before College. One night changed her life and she's now a shell of the girl she was before.

While at first denying to help Dex she finally gives in. But can Dex help Callie come out of her shell? Can she help him enough to bring up his grade? What happens when lines blur and secrets come out? Will they be able to forgive and move on or are the secrets they keep enough to push them apart?

ARC received for an honest review.
Reviewed for My Timeout Book Blog by Melissa.

I have never read anything by either of these authors before I read this novel. I have to say that I enjoyed this novel and will look for more titles by both authors.
This story centers around Dex and Callie. Both characters have a night that changes their lives in different ways. Callie's night changes who she is. It takes a happy, friendly and helpful collage girl and changes her into a timid and scared person. While Dex's night leads to a whole new life for him. A failing grade brings these two together just when they need each other the most. They have their bumps along the way but end up with a HEA.

I would recommend this read to anyone who is looking for a sweet romance that has its emotional moments and has a few steamy moments.

Holy wow!!! I loved this book. I'm at a loss for how to actually write this review to express how much I freaking loved Dex and Callie. They are perfect for each other and just fit. I have no idea how Colbie comes up with these stories, I would love to get lost in her brain for a day, just so I could see what book and characters are going to come out next. Dex wow, a man that knows he needs help and actually asks some for it, that is just simply the almost perfect male, add in the cuteness of his daughter and well you have it... I love how Callie and Dex fit.. so thank you Colbie for writing Dex and Callies story. Georgia Peaches 1 is a freaking great book. I look forward to the next 2 books.
Folks you will love this book, so just go one click and get to reading you will love Dex and Callie as much as I do. Again thanks Colbie.

These Georgia Peaches are a force to be reckoned with..... Each of these triplets is so different personality wise. Dex and Callie are so good for each other. Things happened to Callie and changed her whole life right before she left for college. She never thought she would overcome it all and get back to her old self. Dex gives her security and makes her feel safe like she never has. He literally brings her back to life. There isn’t the drama that a lot of young adult books have. These 6 friends become so much more than friends, they become a family. I loved Mama C from the get go. This book is super sweet, tho they do have issues don’t get me wrong it’s not “the perfect” love story. But is there any such thing? I don’t think there is. Baby Raine is such an awesome addition and brings them all super close. Both Dex and Callie have things to overcome and together they do.

A sweet southern romance between Dex, a baseball player with a failing grade and Callie, a student just getting through the day after a traumatic event. All Dex has ever wanted to do was play ball but he picked the wrong course because the others were full. Callie and her sisters are the Georgia Peaches - triplets going off to university together. When Dex is told he needs to up his grade or he'll lose his scholarship and be benched he reaches out to Callie for help....and this is their story.

I really enjoyed it and can't wait for the other sisters to get their books. The only reason it wasn't a 5 star read for me was I figured out what the "twist" was and I like being surprised.

The Best Love Story I've Read In A Long Time

I am new to these authors and I have to say I am so glad I didn't pass on this book. This was by far the best romance story I've ever read in a long time and will be definitely adding this to my top favourites to reread. Loved the triplets and their close sisterly bond, and Dex and his boys are funny but hot! And can I just say way a go mom and the professor!! I was really hoping they would end up together and my wish came true. So happy she too got her HEA and can't wait for the next couples book and hope it's Cayden and Maverick next.

I have to admit that I did it for the cover... the reviews were mixed so I just gave it a chance...
To be honest there are some things that made me question the whole book. I really could never understand if the sisters had or not money... They made parties that were a huge success from age 14 and people from all over town came.... The mom at times appeared to be too openminded... Callie got mad with Dex for lying and just holed up in her room and left the baby that she was supposedly so in love with....
But overall it was a good book and I am interested on the stories about the other two sisters....

The first line of the blurb sold me on this book because I love when the hero is a baseball player. The characters in the book are in college. I really liked Dex especially how he treats Callie. Callie is scarred from one horrible night and it's controlling her life. With the help of Dex she starts to blossom again, but Dex is keeping some big secrets from her. I loved Callie and her sisters. I really like how close they are and the close relationship they have with their mother. This book had me laughing quite often, but it's also a beautiful story. I can't wait to see what the other Georgia Peaches are going to be up to. This book sets up a little for what's to come.

Wow! This is the first I have read by either of these authors and I really liked it. Devoured it actually. Clearly from the cover you know there is a baby but the when and how this gorgeous child showed up in the story was not expected. It made for an interesting turn of events. Clearly from the title you know there are secrets. Those secrets if revealed could have been fate making a connection but instead by keeping quite it became deceitful and caused a lot of pain.
I really enjoyed the characters and hope to see more of these Georgia Peach triplets!
