Four-time Oscar winner Alejandro Gonzalez Iñárritu and a team of high-profile collaborators are working together on a short film shot in virtual reality focusing on immigration. Iñárritu won the Academy Award for best director twice in a row for “Birdman” and “The Revenant.”

The film will be produced and financed by Legendary Entertainment and Fondazione Prada, Variety reported. Lucasfilm’s new immersive entertainment division called ILMxLAB will help in building the virtual world and all its characters.

Iñárritu has also enlisted the help of a long-time collaborator, Emmanuel Lubezki, to help with this project’s cinematography. The duo, who previously worked together on both “Birdman” and “The Revenant,” will be working with virtual reality for the first time. This project is also reportedly Legendary Entertainment’s biggest virtual reality experiment.

Details about the film are scarce, but the report said the film will feature the experiences of a group of immigrants and refugees crossing over the U.S.-Mexico border.

Iñárritu, who also won the Directors Guild of America Award for “The Revenant,” in his acceptance speech mentioned Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump and his plans of building a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border to tackle illegal immigration. The 53-year-old director said that such a plan would “betray the foundation of this country.
