17 Famous YA Audiobook Narrators

17 Famous YA Audiobook Narrators
That voice in your head is actually a celebrity. We love listening to audiobooks, but when a well-known celebrity pops up as one of the narrators, we love them even more. It doesn’t happen that often, but occasionally a TV or movie star will lend their voice to a YA audiobook, so we’ve rounded up 17 of our favorites! Find out who the celebs are below and listen to samples of their narration!

Candice Accola – Unbreakable by Kami Garcia

Who better to narrate the paranormal thriller, Unbreakable, than Candice Accola? You know her best from her role on The Vampire Diaries where she plays the adorably uptight former-human-now-vampire Caroline!

Jesse Eisenberg – White Cat by Holly Black

Holly Black’s White Cat, the first in her Curse Workers series, originally came out in 2010 which was also the same year that Jesse Eisenberg turned heads in theaters in his role as Mark Zuckerberg in The Social Network.

Alan Cumming – Leviathan by Scott Westerfeld

Alan Cumming is one of those actors that is so many things you’re probably like ooohhhh, THAT guy but you most likely will know him from his role as the Nightcrawler in X-Men 2. He is also the narrator for Scott Westerfeld’s steampunk classic, Leviathan!

Christina Ricci – Gossip Girl by Cecily von Ziegesar

We all know Kristen Bell was the voice of Gossip Girl in the CW show, but it was Christina Ricci who voiced the OG Gossip Girl for the audiobook version! She’s all grown up now, but Christina Ricci is most memorable in her role as Wednesday in The Addams Family!

Lin-Manuel Miranda – Aristotle & Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe

Have you heard of that musical that is taking Broadway by storm, Hamilton? Well, the guy who is famous now for creating that show, Lin-Manuel Miranda, also narrated Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Alire Saenz!

Cristin Milioti – Virals by Kathy Reichs

The mother (sorry if that was a spoiler for you) from How I Met Your Mother is also a very successful audiobook narrator! Actress Cristin Milioti has narrated 14 books, including the YA book Virals by Kathy Reichs!

Tim Curry – Sabriel by Garth Nix

Did you know that the guy who plays Dr. Frank-N-Furter in The Rocky Horror Picture Show is also a majorly sought after voice actor? In addition to narrating the audiobook for Sabriel by Garth Nix, Tim Curry has also lent his voice to Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Jimmy Neutron, The Wild Thornberrys, Hey Arnold!, and the video game Dragon Age: Origins.

Elijah Wood – Witch & Wizard by James Patterson

Frodo (aka Elijah Wood) is that voice in your head when you’re listening to James Patterson’s Witch & Wizard. I didn’t know Hobbits could also narrate audiobooks, but I guess The Shire had no issues with loaning out their star for this project.

Eliza Dushku – Prophecy of the Sisters by Michelle Zink

Joss Whedon fans will know Eliza Dushku as Faith from Buffy the Vampire Slayer or as Echo from that could-have-been-awesome show Dollhouse but I will always remember her fondly as Missy in the best cheer-leading movie of all time, Bring it On! Eliza has only narrated 3 audiobooks and I was pleasantly surprised to hear her voice in the audiobook version of the YA thriller, Prophecy of the Sisters by Michelle Zink!

James Marsters – Carnival of Secrets by Melissa Marr

The second Buffy the Vampire Slayer alum we have on this list is James Marsters, better known as Spike! He doesn’t use Spike’s British accent in the narration for Melissa Marr’s Untamed CIty: Carnival of Secrets, but that won’t stop me from listening to this audiobook on repeat just to hear his voice!

Andrew Scott – The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman

The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman has two audiobook editions and we’re obsessed with the full cast production version because it includes the voice of Andrew Scott! You probably know him as the bad guy from Spectre or the bad guy in Sherlock.

The Cassandra Clare Section

Now comes an entire section on this list dedicated to The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare. So many famous people narrate her books in this series, but we selected a few of our favorites!

Mae Whitman – City of Bones by Cassandra Clare

The actress who plays Bianca in The DUFF also narrates the new audiobook version of City of Bones by Cassandra Clare! Mae Whitman has acted in a lot of stuff, but like some other actors on this list, she is also known for her voice over work. Her voice can be heard on Family Guy, American Dad, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and Avatar: The Last Airbender!

Ed Westwick – City of Fallen Angels by Cassandra Clare

Ed Westwick lends his sultry English-accented voice to the fourth book in The Mortal Instruments series. He probably looks familiar to you because of his roles on Gossip Girl and the new show Wicked City!

Molly C. Quinn – City of Lost Souls by Cassandra Clare

Molly C. Quinn, aka Nathan Fillion’s daughter Alexis on the show Castle, also lends her voice to the Cassandra Clare books with Ed Westwick!

Sophie Turner – City of Heavenly Fire by Cassandra Clare

You know Sophie Turner as Sansa Stark on Game of Thrones but did you also know that she narrates City of Heavenly Fire by Cassandra Clare? Well, now you do!

Ki Hong Lee – Pale Kings and Princes by Cassandra Clare

Ki Hong Lee is deep in the YA world. Not only does he narrate the Pale Kings and Princes audio novella, but he also stars in The Maze Runner movies as Minho!

Sam Heughan – The Fiery Trial by Cassandra Clare

Swoon. Sam Heughan broke out in Hollywood last year with his turn as the ultra-dreamy Scottish highlander, Jamie Fraser in Outlander and now he has graciously lent his voice for the audiobook version of The Fiery Trial, a companion novella to The Mortal Instruments series.

Which actors and actresses do you want to narrate a YA audiobook? Tell us who you would love to listen to in the comments below!
