Borussia Dortmund have sent a special good luck message to former coach Jürgen Klopp as he begins life as Liverpool's new manager.

The German held the reins at the Bundesliga side for seven successful years before departing for a sabbatical from the game earlier this year.

Klopp masterminded back-to-back title victories for Dortmund in 2011 and 2012, as well as securing a German Cup triumph and reaching the final of the Champions League.

His brief break from football ended on Thursday night when it was announced that he had agreed to take charge of the Reds.

And today, his previous club offered their well wishes for his new adventure by posting a heartfelt tribute on their official website.

“Now the fans of Liverpool will be hoping the Klopp era at Anfield sparks a similar footballing fairytale,” it reads.

“Especially as the two clubs share a number of similarities: they are both working-class cities, share a love for football and, of course, sing a very important song: ‘You'll Never Walk Alone’.

“All of Dortmund, including President Reinhard Rauball, Chief Executive Officer Hans-Joachim Watzke and the whole South Stand, wish you, dear Jürgen, lots of luck and lots of success in this new chapter of your career.”
