As it Turns Out, Everything About Dave Chappelle’s Famed Prince Skit is True

Stories of the life and times of Prince will never cease to amuse, and this one may be one of the best, as Micki Free spoke to The Undefeated about that fateful game of hoops with Prince that would be immortalized in Dave Chappelle’s famed “Charlie Murphy’s True Hollywood Stories” sketch.

“Everything in that skit is true,” Free said. “I played in that game. And Prince was Steph Curry all motherfucking night.” Everything? Even the blouses? “Yes, it’s true, we had on blouses, frilly shirts,” Free said. “The same clothes we had at the club. Prince played in six-inch heels!”

As legend has it, Prince, Free, Eddie Murphy and brother Charlie were hanging out at Tramps! private club in Beverly Hills when Prince invited everyone back to his place. After convincing everyone to get on the court, Free says it was Prince’s show. “They checked the ball to me, I gave it to Prince and he went to work. You know that one move where Curry dribbles up and they got him covered, but he steps back behind the 3-point line and hits nothing but net? That was Prince.”

And yes, Prince capped off his game-winner with the now-iconic phrase: “Game, Blouses.” Afterwords, Free says they were really served blueberry pancakes by the chef. Prince will always be the best.
