Wednesday’s Arrow (The CW, 8/7c) brings with it the nuptials of Oliver — excuse us, Al Sah-him — and Nyssa, but the specter of that dreaded union will be the least of everyone’s worries by the time the crazy cliffhanger rolls around. Let’s just say the seven-day wait until next week’s season finale will be torturous.
Having screened the penultimate episode, “This Is Your Sword,” we’re divulging seven teasers that should ensure you get to the proverbial church on time:
* Holy, epic fight sequence! When Diggle, Felicity, Laurel, Malcolm and Tatsu land in Nanda Parbat with the hopes of saving their city from the Alpha Omega virus, a battle breaks out against The League (with a last-minute assist from Atom) that might be the show’s lengthiest and most impressive to date.
* Diggle’s got some serious anger when it comes to Oliver, and it doesn’t seem like his issues with what his friend did are going away anytime soon.
* Tatsu convinces Felicity to fight for Oliver, but it might be too late seeing as how she finds out — from Oliver himself! — that he’s getting hitched to Nyssa. Tatsu also reveals to Felicity something Oliver confessed to her while she was helping him heal after the fall.
* Thea’s trip to see Roy, who now goes by the name Jason and works at an auto shop, leads to a scenario that will definitely evoke excitement.
* Nyssa’s not going down the aisle without a fight. Atta girl!
* A major business move is made.
* Malcolm delivers not one, but two of the episode’s biggest twists.
* Guess who says it: “You lost my trust. You lost my respect.”
Who is Tatau? Is that supposed to be Tatsu?
Yes. Unfortunate typo will make sense after the episode
Uh-oh. Goodbye to Tatsu, I’m thinking!
Can’t wait to see it! Is Roy’s new identity a nod to Jason Todd?
Of course Tatsu has to give an olicity romance speech. All characters do and its part of the reason this season hasnt been the best for me. Everything has to serve the romance it seems. I have no problem with any pairing on this show but there should be more at stake here.
Yea bc 1% romance is taking over the show. Other than love making in NP I haven’t seen much romance this season. Also lets not forget that Slades whole crusade in season 2 was about the woman he loved that died but hey complain about olicity if it makes you feel better.
I’ll take Olicity over that awwwwwful Shado story line all day.
It takes up one or two minutes of the episode. Give it a break. I swear people spend more time complaining about Olicity than they do celebrating the things they actually enjoy. It’s so sad.
This! Yes…everyone has to do their bit in fueling Olicity. Olicity has to be a no-brainer ..if everyone thinks they should be together, then why shouldn’t they be! Every other relationship that Oliver has, has to take a back seat to Felicity. How about using more important solid relations he has to try and bring Oliver back esp Diggle or Thea. And what is Felicity even doing in Nanda Parbat, she can’t fight!
she was there to disable the aircraft, did you even watch the episode?
“You lost my trust. You lost my respect.” John Diggle to Oliver Queen! My poor babies. My bromance is headed for troubled waters. I hope we get some great Original Team Arrow scenes tonight. And I know Diggle & Oliver are going to break my heart. And my poor Oliver and Felicity, those two beautiful babes can’t catch a break.
I feel like there could be three possibles as to who says that line……Diggle, Thea, or Felicity. I’d say Diggle or Thea declaring that would pack a bigger punch than Felicity saying it. And, you’re probably right, after Lyla’s kidnapping, Diggle is the likeliest choice.
Yeah, I think it’s Diggle to Oliver too. I’m looking forward to a little Oliver/Diggle conflict to flesh out their relationship.
And because I’m tired of Oliver’s conflict being directed toward Felicity all season. I’ve had enough of that.
I’m hoping those words are from Diggle esp after Lyla but I also want Diggle to be the one to bring Oliver back.
“You lost my trust. You lost my respect.” Bet you Diggle says it to Oliver. And quick sidebar: can we get ONE episode where there’s not some ridiculous Olicity love declaration or something? I’m really tired of the force-feed that’s going on with this ship. Abandoning plot lines from the first two seasons is one thing, but now EVERY character is proclaiming Olicity to be the high holy ship? Come ON. It’s gross. Is there nothing better to write each episode?
There has only two declarations of love between Oliver and Felicity try again. Only two episodes
Maybe only two or three declarations were the word ‘LOVE’ is used, but Felicity has at every opportunity she got, told Oliver that they are not together because of him. She’s always tried to convince him that they should be together throughout the season…it’s exhausting.
And yes I don’t know why everyone has to be endorsing this r/ship.
Gross? Why is it gross. Aside from the action and drama, I happen to enjoy Oliver and Felicity and their love for one another.
Um, what show are you watching? Olicity isn’t going anywhere. It’s been unfolding for 3 years. And for all the whining about them, I have yet to see much Olicity in season 3. And the day they start back trying to make that nonchemistry having comicbook crap of season one work, is the day Arrow loses my viewership. I’m barely holding on as it while they playout the everyone is a hero hour (but the training comes later), except the fan favorite heroes that don’t wear a mask (Diggle and Felicity). I blame the up and down ridiculous nature of season 3 on watering down what it means to be a superhero, the loss of focus on the beloved dynamic of Original Team Arrow, forgetting who the show’s protagonist was for too long, and the choice to leave its grounded nature for reasons not beneficial to the show’s only protagonist, Oliver Queen. Felicity Smoak, John Diggle, and Olicity happen to be the only things keeping me watching and encouraged for better in season 4.
THIS. Olicity hasn’t really had that many scenes and when they do, they barely take up a few minutes of an episode. All they’ve developed is how much they love each other. For the majority of this season, they’ve been apart or at odds and even that was forced. I’m excited to see them get back to how they used to be when the angst is no longer necessary.
damm this site is full off crazy Olicity shippers
Why are they called crazy just for liking and supporting a relationship?! You’re the crazy one for commenting on it. Just leave them alone.
They’ve had more than enough screen time, the angst may only e for a few minutes but it overshadows the mood of the episode. What pains me is that my favorite character Felicity has been turned to a cliche love interest and all that wit and character she had is out of the window. I’d like the writers to pick one option and stick with it, either they are together and things get back to normal or they are not and Felicity learns to move on and not look back.
I love olicity but I agree that this season they mad her dull
This time last year I was so excited about the last few Arrow episodes of season 2 and this year it’s gotten to the point where I’m actually dreading them. What horrible/awful/angst inducing thing will happen this week? What will the writers do to make Felicity cry in this episode? Will the plot needs once again force my favorite characters behave like brainless pod people? Meh.
I rewatched some season 1 and 2 eps this past weekend and while the show has always been dark, it was still fun and the heroes actually got to win. This year started out horrible (Sara’s murder) and then just got more horrible. And it feels like Team Arrow has done nothing but lose, lose, lose. Especially in this last block of episodes.
They’ll pull out a last-second save. They have to.
I’m sure they will, but my issue is whether or not I want to continue watching everyone be miserable in the meantime. Right now the answer is ‘no.’
I have to agree with you – it IS a drama – but S3 has been nothing but MISERY at every turn – who wants to watch that week after week? BALANCE Arrow writers – please remember that for S4? We’re expecting that Oliver to become Green Arrow means he’s in a happier place for the wit & humor to come out more… that was nowhere to be found this past season… way too depressing.
This season has been a mess I agree
I really hope the writer’s redeem themselves for S4
I’m right there with u. This season has been a wreck. I don’t care for any of this stuff. I love Arrow, but, not this.
Yes! This! I don’t want to watch TV to be miserable. Seasons one and two had their drama and action without the constant losing that is happening this year. They’ve had so many “big twists” with every episode that the true twist would be not having one. Here’s hoping next season is better.
I’m curious what you mean exactly by winning. In my opinion, one of the things I’ve always found very compelling about Arrow is that they don’t actually win a ton. In the season one finale, the undertaking was mostly stopped but the Glades were still leveled, Malcolm still got away, Tommy still died, and Moira still got arrested. In season two, Slade and Blood were eventually stopped but they still managed to take over the Glades, Moira still got killed, and Malcolm still returned.
Arrow and his team have lost constantly, starting with the death of Oliver’s father and Dig’s brother right on through today. A lot of what they’ve done from the beginning, including Oliver trading himself to Ra’s for Thea, isn’t winning, but just lessening the damage and stemming the flow as long as they can. And for me, I find that an interesting take on their hero’s story.
I don’t take issue with the hero losing occasionally at all, but it feels like that is all that happens anymore. It’s just depressing, and we are at the point now that instead of looking forward to a new episode it kind of makes me sad because I know I’m going to watch characters I care about have awful things happen to them. Again. I wouldn’t take so much issue with a dark turn of events if if the whole season hadn’t been one terrible thing happening after another. I just don’t enjoy watching that week after week. I also think part of my issue with the losing also comes from the fact that we’ve had to watch Oliver be a largely reactive character this year. I miss the season 1 Oliver that thought up and devised actual plans to stop the bad guy. I think the losing would bother me less if it actually felt like he was TRYING to win.
Here, Here Sister! Couldn’t agree more.
This whole season has been depressing. It seems like they have spent the whole season kicking Oliver while he was down, killing him off, brainwashing him and when he comes back home his team has replaced him and they don’t need him anymore. Felicity was constantly yelling at him or lecturing him and now we will get Diggle telling him he doesn’t trust him anymore. There hasn’t been a single bright spot in this whole season, of if there has I must have missed it.
I’d believe it from Tatsu than some other characters simply because she probably regrets how things went with Maseo. Maybe she wishes she fought harder to keep him. That said, I’ll be happy to move on from Olicity. Oliver rebounded to her and this relationship hasn’t felt organic to me all season. I’d root for it if it was.
If there is anything organic about Arrow it’s the love, respect and belief that Oliver and Felicity have for one another. All the other relationships he’s had were toxic and of convenience. I am over the heartache and would prefer the season ends with them being happy together.
I agree. One of the most organic things has been Oliver and Felicity’s relationship. We’ve seen it grow from their first meeting, to acquaintances, friends to lovers. There’s loyalty and trust and attraction and so much affection. It’s been one of the best relationships to watch unfold. That and Oliver’s friendship with Diggle.
thanks for the laugh
I agree. Some viewers are blaming a subpar season on Olicity when thise things just happened to coincide.
Oliver rebounded?! Do you mean from Sara? Because there was like six months between Sara/Oliver and Oliver’s date with Felicity and it was pretty clear that Oliver had feelings for Felicity during season 2.
I agree! I think they rushed that relationship. Oliver was banging every chick in town and Sara for most of season 2. All of a sudden in the last episode she’s the one he loves? It did not feel organic at all to me. I liked their friendly banter but this love, on his end, was forced. Reminds me exactly of the Damon/Elena forced realtionship on TVD and that ruined that show real fast. I’m hoping for a different outcome on Arrow.
We know Sara has to come back because of the spin-off. Let’s assume that’s Malcolm’s first reveal. The second reveal will hopefully be Felicity’s father then. The big question I want answered? Is Oliver really brainwashed or does he have a plan? Tatsu told him earlier in the season: In order to defeat your enemy, you must become your enemy.
To be crystal clear for those watching at home, Caity Lotz is in the spinoff. It has not been announced as whom.
It’s either Captain Lance to Laurel or Diggle to Oliver.
This season has had some serious ups and downs for all the characters and for the show itself. I think the writers have mad some very risky and brave moves when they chose to explore the identity theme in the show’s 3rd season. In all epic hero journey’s there needs to be a reason to fight. What makes an ordinary man put on a mask and fight for the innocent? Why choose to live your life with all the violence, death and loss, if you can’t also have happiness, light and joy. This season has been all about answering those questions for Oliver Queen. People have complained a lot because the show took a much darker tone. There was a heavier focus on character development and relationships this year. It’s like a typical complainer fallback to say “this season has sucked and the ratings are bad” when they don’t get what they want. However, they don’t realize to get to the real Green Arrow these are the steps you take in an epic hero journey. The ratings have been higher than ever with a “38% increase” this year (Marc Guggunheim). Oliver will give up the mantle of the Arrow/crime fighter this year. He will choose to live his life as Oliver Queen by the finale. I predict a return to Queen money/power. I think next year we see a hero who is lighter, funnier and a little more like the comic book Oliver Queen. I think instead of fighting for his father’s memory or to honour Tommy he will choose to fight to hold onto a happy life the same way Diggle has proven is possible. Team Arrow has suffered the death of Sara, the death of Oliver, the loss of Roy and the “destruction of Oliver’s soul”. Gawd, can you really blame Felicity for crying? I cried for two days when my dog died. I think sometimes we get so caught up in the story week to week we forget to look at the big picture. For all the fun I have watching action scenes and stunts, it is the journey of Oliver Queen as a human being that keeps me coming back week after week. If the first episode of the season is always a mirror for the last as the writers have promised then we will just have to hunker down and wait for the good stuff. Happy times are a comin!! I have faith in the writers and they have proven to give me a an entertaining show to watch each week. Don’t like it? Watch something else.
I completely agree with your comments Ellie. For these reasons, I’ve loved all three seasons!
Ellie so spot on. People will complain about anything.
This season hasn’t been darker. It has been more melodramatic. There is a difference.
I don’t blame Felicity for crying AT ALL. This season has been depressing has hell, no wonder she’s been so upset. I don’t want to see her cry anymore though. Enough is enough. But I don’t hate or blame her for it. Everything has been a lot.
I’m in Ellie Team. This season was painful to watch sometime, but I enjoyed it as much as the others.
I found the identity theme this year to be intriguing but I think the writers have executed it really poorly. They’ve been hitting the same emotional beats over and over again all season and it’s starting to feel really repetitive. I don’t think this season has been more focused on character development at all. Characters have been written so inconsistently from episode to episode to make this stupid LOA/R’as storyline work. I keep hope-watching but it doesn’t sound like things are going to get much better.
Thank you for saying all of this. You truly understand the show the same way I see it, and those complaining just don’t get how this journey is a necessary part of the show to come out better on the other side.
It’s too full of angst, doom and gloom for me. I loved the first 2 seasons. Not this 1.
Looking forward to these last two episodes. I read the lyrics for Bruce Springsteen’s song, “This is Your Sword” and it really fits Arrow right now and it also gives me hope that the team will be back together and fighting together soon. I hope so! I also think that line is from Diggle, unfortunately. I still love Oliver and Felicity. They have had some great scenes and I hope that they will all be in a better place next season. Looking forward to seeing Tatsu.
Just the fact the Oliver is marring Nyssa is like what else can they throw at Oliver to make him more miserable. This season has been an emotional drain, even those Oliver/Felicity moments are painful and they are a wonderful suitable match. Felicity has been an emotional wreck while Laurel miraculously knows how to fight with the best of them… yea my head hurts!
Diggle is half sidelined as other “heroes” take to the streets. The original team arrow is barely functioning which saddens me because those three work so well together. Ray Palmer only viewed while budding with Felicity I mean come on I agree with Oliver in that they might be related.
The flashbacks didn’t flow seamlessly into current events. Though I did enjoy the season it just left me frustrated and Oliver is a hot mess. –His can’t because issues were like “Guy get a grip… Like life is short so make the best of it.” Yikes!!!
I want so much more from Thea/Malcolm, Felicity/Diggle/Oliver. After this season I need to see Oliver be in adult relationship and be anything but miserable.
Though I for one would never read a brochure on living in Starling City that city is like doomed every season.
Umm…have you ever read a Green Arrow comic book? Oliver Queen is incapable of an adult relationship. He treated Roy horribly and even after he marries Laurel, he still messes it up. But, this characteristic is also what makes him such an interesting hero.
You don’t need to have read a comic book to watch this show. They’re not the same characters. Oliver is more like Batman here than Green Arrow. This is an ADAPTATION. It’s never gonna be the same.
Why not, Thea learned how to miracuously fight and you didn’t mention her. At least Laural has fallen down and was bested in her fights and has now trained all season and the last half with a League assasin.
Why oh Why in Season 3 do I need to keep hearing people talk about an original team Arrow? Stop there is no original team. People keep joining in and that is what a team is. Do I have to keep watching Season 1 over and over again because a few vocal fans can’t handle character development and changes in team dynamics? No thanks! Please let the writers continue to evolve their team and write their story, I have no desire to watch repeats.
Dang. You took the words right outta my mouth. :)
watched a small sneak posted on the arrow facebook last night that at least gives me hope that our Oliver is still in there. The shocked look on his face when Ra’s tells him who brought the alpha/omega to him gave me a bit of glee that maybe the oliver we have come to know and love over these last 3 seasons isn’t well and truly gone and that this might be part of some grand plan. fingers crossed!
That is when Oliver says, You lost my trust, & you lost my respect
Based on the preview for the Flash, sounds like “black” Arrow and Firestorm appear to help the Flash fight Reverse Flash. If that’s the case, “black” Arrow comes back to the good side?
I wouldn’t go that far, but it is the league’s priority to save the world. Though they go about it in the wrong way at times. Remember this whole thing started because Oliver decided he couldn’t let Malcom pay for his crime of killing hundreds of people. The League aren’t villains.
Why the frak is Felicity out in the field in every episode now? People were upset because Laurel was going out (and getting her butt kicked) with only a few months training on top of her basic self defense skills. Now Felicity goes out with the team every week… sometimes she defeats an assassin on her own, and sometimes they dance around her or have a nice heart to heart with her. Usually while she’s crying, because that’s all she does anymore.
Felicity deserves to be dead about six times over, just in this back half of the season. And it’s getting to a point where I’m not actually opposed to the idea. They have really ruined her, which is sad.
The only thing I’m interested in seeing on the show for the rest of the season is how far they are digging the hole that season 3 has become. Will it be possible for season 4 to fix the damage without starting from scratch? (by that, I mean Oliver and maybe Thea by his side, but no other team members)
What’s depressing is that I finished watching Daredevil last weekend and it was a great series. It was what Arrow once was. It was the show that Arrow was promised to be. Now we’re stuck with 90210 in tight leather costumes.
Loooool get out of my brain. I swear we are thinking the same way.our comments are pretty much twins.
:)
She was out in the field this time last season when it was like all hands on deck to help. Why wouldn’t she be now? They don’t have a foundry anymore so she can’t exactly be on comms. And she is a main character so what do you expect her to do? Just sit at home like a good little woman should?
Yes. That’s exactly what I meant. I’m sick and tired of women folk leaving the kitchen and wearing pants. She should dun be makin’ dinner and poppin’ out baby folk.
Seriously? You wanted to play the “sexist” card? Lame.
What else am I supposed to think when you’re just targeting Felicity simply because she can’t fight. She’s just as much a hero as anyone else. I’m sick of people complaining about her being emotional when this season has been nothing but doom and gloom. If she wasn’t emotional everyone would accuse her of being heartless and cold. She can’t win.
Felicity has no business being out in the field! She is the tech expert, not a ninja. Her job, through which she is absolutely a hero, is using the strengths that nobody else on the team can offer. This season hasn’t been more doom and gloom than before, it’s just been more soapy. Her tears are a joke at this point, because nothing they’re doing is honest or meaningful.
But no. You just jump on the sexism thing because heaven forbid someone should have an issue with a female character and hold them up to the same standards as anyone else. All of the characters have been weak this season. I’ve commented on Oliver. I’ve commented on the uselessness of bringing back Malcolm. I’ve commented on how Diggle has been reduced to nothing (something which I predicted over a year ago when everyone called me crazy for thinking that putting “Olicity” in the spotlight would reduce Diggle’s role on the show). I have made a million comments about this season, but the only ones that seem to stick with anyone around here are the Felicity comments. So it’s not really my issue. It’s you, refusing to accept that the character has been shredded this season.
What does her being a female have to do with anything? I actually really like felicity, I was one of the few people who defended her after she slept with Ray because All the so called felicity and Olicity fans called her a whole, prostitute, said she was cheap, or that she was a gold digger.
So don’t play the female card with me. The truth is that she can’t fight and she should not be on such dangerous missions because she can’t defend herself.
I’ve not seen anyone call Felicity a whore for sleeping with Ray. If they did, they’re a minority. Don’t generalize a whole fandom on a few people. They’re not the majority.
–
If you want to go there, Laurel shouldn’t be there either then should she? Because she’s barely had any training either. A few boxing lessons and sessions with Nyssa doesn’t add up to the same level as the LoA and Diggle the soldier or anyone else there. But no, Felicity gets the focus of the hate.
–
She’s there because she’s going to do something with her computer.
She’s going to do something with her computer which she could have done from a thousand miles away. It made no sense. They just wanted her there.
And I don’t know how much you’ve been paying attention this season, but the whole “Laurel is doing too much, too soon” theme has been alive and kicking for quite a while now. But her couple of weeks of training are still a couple of weeks more than Felicity has.
Drew, I can’t access our house’s wifi from our backyard. Proximity counts. This is the LOA, lest we forget. I doubt they’re going to use something that can be hacked from thousands of miles away.
Actually, if Felicity is out in the field she is usually serving some purpose so I expect that to be the case here as well. The stuff with Laurel was weird earlier because SHE was going out but Digg stayed behind, which didn’t really make any sense. If they had all been out fighting it would’ve fit into an ‘all hands on deck’ kind of situation, which I guess is what we are getting in this ep.
Felicity has gone into the field on rare occasions. Now she is going out every week, and it usually makes absolutely no sense. Send her to Nanda Parbat? Seriously? Have her confront Ra’s al Ghul as though he’s the coworker who stole her yogurt and not the head of a group called “The League of Assassins”? Absurd. Have her drop an assassin by whacking him upside the head with the side of a spear? Stupid.
The problem is that Felicity isn’t filling her role anymore. The writers have decided that she is the female lead/romantic lead and must therefore be in the center of the action. But it makes no sense! Felicity probably couldn’t drop a Rockem Sockem Robot. Realistically, if she kept going in the field as often as she has been, she should be using the superhero nickname: Dead.
She went to Nanda Parbat in 3×20 with Oliver for emotional support, the same as Digg so she did have a reason for being there. Her confronting R’as might be weirder if it weren’t for the fact that Arrow’s version of this villain is pretty weak sauce. Her bamming the LOA assassin on the head was a little silly, but since a barely trained LL can apparently hold her own against them too it doesn’t really bother me. Arrow’s version of the LOA is basically R’as and Maseo plus a bunch of expendable goons that can be taken down pretty easily. I rewatched S2s League episode and wish the show had kept up with that version. They actually felt dangerous and menacing in those eps.
So basically, Oliver just joined a sorority?
Yeah, the version of the League that they’ve been showing this season has been pathetic, but it’s decisions like having Felicity confront Ra’s which makes them pathetic.
If you watch the Canadian preview. after they are captured Oliver tells the LOA to not search Felicity but to search everyone else. she has a habit of hiding things in her pockets
Yeah, the shocking twist is that this was all part of some elaborate (contrived) plan and nothing is what it seems. But that won’t change the fact that the entire season has been a mess.
And since when is there an express train between Starling City and Nanda Parbat? Those people go back and forth more often and more quickly than the Ewings driving from Dallas to Mexico.
There are maybe 2 or 3 people on here that I always tend to agree with…and you’re one of them. It’s true. She shouldn’t be there…at all. It’s funny because the guys didn’t want Laurel on the streets at first because it was dangerous…but Felicity can go to Nanda Parbat, a place filled with trained assassins. Look at Penelope Garcia, Felicity’s flamboyant twin,…She hardly EVER goes out into the field. She’s the tech person, so why would she? She’s not trained for that. I liked the Felicity from the first season…not this love sick, all-I-can-think-about-is-Oliver one.
LOL, yup. I am both amused and disappointed at what has been done with Felicity. I absolutely adored her in season 1. Now all she does is weep or look imploringly at people or give ridiculous, high handed speeches to characters that in the comics would cut her head off. They should never have caved and made her a love interest, she works far better as a quirky girl Friday.
Exactly. :)
I don’t see how there can be much of a cliffhanger tonight after the huge spoiler in last nights “Flash” preview.
You’ll see. ;)
So much of this sounds really good. Diggle & Oliver are, I think, going to break my bromance loving heart, likewise with Felicity finding out about the marriage and everything. They’re going to do outstanding work. Still rooting for Oliver & Felicity though. Love those two and darn it, after all the doom and gloom and misery of Season 3, they need to get a point in the WIN! column.
I am DREADING the Diggle and Oliver bromance break-up! NOoooooo! They’re the best part of the show.
–
The Oliver/Nyssa wedding is disgusting. Forcing a gay woman to marry a man is deplorable. I hope the writers know they have a responsibility that goes beyond the narrative with things like this.
–
I’m glad Thea will get some happiness with Roy and some closure but she’s an awesome little fighter and I kinda wanted her to join in the fight. Maybe season 4 will be better for her.
Why is felicity there? I don’t get it, she can’t fight so why did she join them and travel to rescue Oliver?is it that she would be used as a leverage against Oliver at a point during the episode.we like felicity but there is no need for her to be in situations where others would fight when she can’t fight.
The writers have really messed up this season plus the whole olicity shipping mess. The writers better step up their game next season. I have been watching Daredevil these few days and the difference in quality is so high, smh
“When Diggle, Felicity, Laurel, Malcolm and Tatsu land in Nanda Parbat with the hopes of saving their city from the Alpha Omega virus”
Felicity is key in that plot.
But what was the excuse for Felicity being out in the field every other time this season? (“Someone needs to bring Thea home. I know Diggle and Malcolm are going, but I should totally go too or else we can’t have the sex scene by torchlight. Shotgun!”)
She went for same reason as Digg, to support someone she loves through a bad time and to help bring Thea back. They were not going to NP to fight. It makes perfect sense that she would be there and that Oliver would want her there.
She’s there because why wouldn’t she be? She helped during the fight with Slade and she didn’t have fighting experience then either. She’s a member of the team and a main character and an important part of the show. She’s right where she should be. Plus I’m pretty sure she has a tablet with her to do something Felicity-esq on the computers. It’s not like they have a foundry where she can stay on comms and even if they did, I think NP is a bit far don’t you?
+
Also Daredevil is much better than Arrow these days but that has nothing to do with Olicity. Blame the EP’s focus being split across two and now three shows. Even the stunts are better on The Flash nowadays. Arrow got shafted.
Arrow, season 1 really did have better stunts and a better tone. It wasn’t far off from Daredevil, which is why we all liked it to much. Now it’s just a soap with a lot of leather.
As for Felicity… have you seen any computers for her to hack into at Nanda Parbat? What is she going to to, use her tablet to hack into one of the stone tablets hanging on the wall? She’s not a medical doctor, so she can do nothing useful about the virus (if Caitlin were there it would still be a stretch, but it would at least make some amount of sense). She could do a lot more from her office, over comms (which aren’t telegraphs. We can communicate worldwide now). She could keep track of heat signatures, she could look for anyone leaving Nanda Parbat for Starling City, she could hack a drone and blow the place up. As far as I can tell, she can’t even charge her cell phone at Nanda Parbat. There is literally nothing for her to do there… except cry, which I’m almost positive she will do.
LOL, Arrow was always a soap. Sister swapping anyone?! But it used to have amazing stunts. The Flash was the worst thing to happen to Arrow.
–
I think Felicity will have to do something with the jet they have on standby. I don’t know. I’m not a writer or a mindreader. But she has every right to be there as she’s a main character. Sorry, I know you don’t like it but it’s true.
It feels like this episode will be Action! Action! Action! and honestly I’m dreading it.
At this point, all I want from the show is to get back to character driven stories, not comics driven ones. I liked what they’ve done this season with Roy and Thea so I’ll watch for them but I’m really dreading the Ra’s/Nanda Parbat stuff.
After everything that has happened on the show this season, the only things I care about are Oliver/Diggle, Diggle/Felicity, Oliver/Felicity and Olver/Diggle/Felicity. Everything else has been smoke and mirrors, sound and fury signifying nothing.
They certainly made a botch of Olicity this season. Nyssa/Oliver is just the icing on the cake.
They haven’t done the best by Olicity this season (I think throwing in Ray there was a big mistake and so pointless with hindsight) but I still love them. Their relationship has been one of the reasons why I haven’t given up on the show yet. Everyone says shipping ruins everything but relationships are the core of the show. If you don’t care about relationships, what’s the point?! I’m not just talking about romantic relationships here either.
I agree though that the Nanda Parbat and League stuff has been the worst thing about this season. Malcolm too. He’s terrible. I blame him for most of the problems. But I’m trying to look past that and focus on the things I like such as Diggle, Felicity, Oliver and Thea.
Reblogged this on Sheryl Nantus and commented:
*Kermit-flail* Can’t. Wait. Until. Tonight!
Can not wait. I think the who said it will be Diggle to Oliver.
I’m kind of disappointed that the Alpha and Omega virus is what they’re planning to use to destroy Starling. I was kind of hoping that with Brother Eye and the OMAC project being dropped this season it would end with the League, rather than using something like a biological virus, instead combine Felicity’s computer virus and merge it with the OMAC tech some some complete insanity.
Okay, I’m watching tonight. :) As for who says the quote… could be anyone on Team Arrow.
Oh, how I miss a time when the godawful ship that is Olicity wasn’t shoved down my throat.
If it really bothers you that much, you don’t have to watch. You are a broken record…
As are you, my friend. As are all Olicity shippers, which is why I suppose the writers felt the need to placate them and sail this horrid ship in the first place.
I’m a broken record *because you are*. I wouldn’t be saying what I say if you didn’t repeat yourself. If the show is so hard to watch, I don’t know why you are still watching. Has complaining about Olicity done anything but make you feel better?
Sigh. Look, I’m a bit old to fight with people on the internet. I love Felicity. I love Oliver. I don’t like them together and I feel that relationship does a disservice to both characters and the show. That is my opinion. Yours is different and you are entitled to it.
When you come back every week and make the same complaint, you can’t expect people to not get annoyed with you. You’re entitled to your opinion, but at least say something different when you post. We are already well-aware of how you feel about Olicity.
Ah, but unlike the writers, I don’t care whether or not you get annoyed. And I have said plenty in the past, it’s just that Olicity have been particularly painful in the last 3 weeks. Have a good day!
Ah, you’re a brick wall. Good to know.
