Women's Tennis makes strides against breast cancer

On Sunday, October 19 members of the Aurora University women's tennis team walked in the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer event in St. Charles, Illinois.

The participating members of the Spartan women's tennis program walked a 5k that began at 9:00 a.m. in Pottawatomie Park in St. Charles. The girls that walked included, Christy Savellano, Chloe Madison, Jordyn Withey, Abby Matayka, Melanie Findlay, and Micaela Mascha.

In the days leading up to the event, team members collected donations as well as gave handouts in the lobby of the cafeteria about Breast Cancer Facts, ribbons, and a sign that AU students and staff could sign if they knew someone that was battling Breast Cancer, a survivor, or in remembrance. The team then walked with the sign during the 5k.

"It has been a tradition that we had done in the past, for three years now and we are passionate about it because a lot of us on the team know so many strong women that have battled breast cancer," said senior Christy Savellano.
