New Haven, Conn. – (5/5/2016) – A stunning midseason run of nine consecutive wins served as the centerpiece to Chestnut Hill College's rise to the top of the Central Atlantic College Conference (CACC) standings. With the conference season coming to a close on Tuesday, May 3, CACC Commissioner Dan Mara has announced the postseason field for 2016. Finishing the regular season at 8-1 in CACC play, Chestnut Hill College captured the #2 seed in the upcoming tournament. The Griffins sit opposite #3 Georgian Court University, who will host the semifinal and final rounds of the championship on their home field, for a 2:30 p.m. semifinal. #1 Philadelphia University and #4 Holy Family University are scheduled to begin the day's competition on Saturday, May 7, with a 12:00 p.m. semifinal.

Philadelphia University (12-5, 9-0) earned the top seed in the CACC Women's Lacrosse Championship Tournament with a perfect 9-0 run through their league schedule. Their closest CACC competition came against the Scarlet and Gold on April 27, when the Griffins pushed the Lady Rams to their limit in a narrow 10-9 final. The Lady Rams hosted the Tigers for their regular-season league meeting on April 5. In a 13-8 Philadelphia University victory, CACC Player of the Year and All-CACC First Team selection, senior midfielder Liz Mower (Harleysville, Pa.) contributed nine points in a milestone performance that left her as the Lady Rams all-time points leader. Philadelphia University totaled six All-CACC selections with five student-athletes being named to the Second Team. Meanwhile, Holy Family University offered three First Team performers and one Second Team selection to the all-conference roster.

Chestnut Hill College and Georgian Court University's semifinal engagement will serve as a venue for revenge as the Lions look for retribution after a 6-5 Scarlet and Gold triumph on April 13. The victory was the sixth in a row for the Griffins and their first–ever over the Lions. The Scarlet and Gold held a 4-2 halftime edge thanks to a pair of late first-half scores from freshman midfielder Julia Reinert (Bridgeport, Pa.) and sophomore midfielder Hunter Leckonby (Charleston, S.C.). The Lions outscored the Griffins 3-2 in the latter period, but again late scores, this time from senior midfielder Emorie Keimig (Freeland, Md.) and junior midfielder Rachel Perry (Gilbertsville, Pa.) rallied the Griffins to a valuable league triumph. The Lions contributed four student-athletes to the All-CACC First Team and a fifth on the All-CACC Second Team while the Griffins matched the Lady Rams with a league-high six All-CACC selections. Most notably was Keimig; the Scarlet and Gold captain who scored her 100th collegiate goal with her last tally of the regular season, finished fourth in the CACC with 59 points (48 goals and 11 assists). She also recorded 32 ground balls, 27 draws, and 19 caused turnovers while appearing on the CACC Women's Lacrosse Weekly Report three times; twice as an Honor Roll mention and once as both the league's Player and Defensive Player of the Week.
