Severe Weather Update

Update at 5.30pm, Saturday 6 February 2016

Devon and Cornwall Police, CORMAC, Cornwall Fire and Rescue, and the Environment Agency are all still out and about across Cornwall dealing with current flooding and highway issues.

• CORMAC has 50 live highway incidents that they are dealing with
• Devon & Cornwall Police have 37 incidents that they are dealing with
• Cornwall Fire and Rescue has one live incident that they are dealing with

The Environment Agency still currently has flood warnings in place for:
• River Walkham, Huckworthy to Bedford Bridge
• River Stratt, Bush to Pinchbridge and Helebridge near Bude (excluding Stratton), North Cornwall
• River Hayle, Relubbus to St Erth, West Cornwall
• Bolingey stream, Bolingey to Perranporth, West Cornwall
• Portreath stream
• River Lynher, Berriowbridge to Notterbridge
• River Tamar, from Greystone Bridge to Cotehele

The Severe flood warning at Portreath has been downgraded. The EA operational teams remain on site and are continuing to remove blockages from the trash screen on the river.

The following significant roads remain, at this time, affected by floods:
• The road remains closed at Edgcumbe Road, Newquay alongside the boating lake
• The A3058 road remains closed between Trekenning at St Columb and Newquay Airport. Fire crews remain on site helping to pump the water to reopen the road as soon as possible. Airport passengers are advised to allow extra time to divert to the airport.
• A374 at Polbathic is part open between Trerulefoot and Torpoint
• B3300 at Portreath Bridge is closed
• Winnards Perch to Padstow is flooded

The A30 at Penzance, St Buryan to Drift, has rocks and debris on the road.
A374 at Sheviock has water running off farmland and the river is diverting across the road for approx. 50m. The road is passable with EXTREME care.

The A390 at St Blazey is also closed by roadworks – please take this into account when diverting around flood waters.

More rain and high winds are expected into the evening and with the land saturated, the travelling public are asked to avoid all flooded areas and if they have to travel – please take extreme care.

The travelling public are advised to keep listening to the radio and tv for updates on the weather and flood warnings.
