The Aurora University Spartans used a big second half run to easily pull away from the Stars of Dominican University, winning 99-79 on Tuesday night in River Forest, Illinois.

HOW IT HAPPENEDWith AU leading 12-11 a little over five minutes into the first-half, Dominican had an 8-0 run to take a seven point lead at 19-12.
But a Spartan 10-0 run fueled by a pair of
Chris Fritsch three's and two
Jovon Griffin lay-ups gave the Spartans a 22-19 lead.
AU expanded the run to 17-3 and led 29-22 with 6:29 to play in the opening half.
Dominican worked their way back into the game but AU would lead by five (40-35) going into halftime.
Five minutes into the second-half, the game was a two point game with AU leading 50-48.
Over the next six minutes, AU ran off a 26-6 stretch and led by 22 at 76-54. AU drained six three's in the run.
With 2:12 to play the Spartans held the games largest lead of 27 points and clearly had the game in hand.
AU would go on to win 99-79, coming just shy of their 11th 100-point game.

FOR THE SPARTANSAll five Spartan starters scored in double figures.
Tyler Hall had a game-high 24 points and six assists.
Nick Kladis had 17 points and seven rebounds.
Chris Fritsch had 14 points and five rebounds.
Kalmon Stokes had 13 points and six rebounds.
Jovon Griffin had 13 points.
