Steven Spielberg’s adaptation of Ernest Cline’s Ready Player One finally has a trailer. It can be seen above.
Spielberg was on stage at San Diego Comic-Con, his first appearance since 2011, to debut the trailer and talk a little about the film. The director first announced that he was going to take the project on in March 2015, almost five years after Warner Bros. first announced it had acquired the rights to the book and were going to turn it into a feature film. Production on the movie began last year.
Ready Player One follows Wade Watts, a poor 18-year-old who chooses to spend the majority of his days playing an MMORPG called OASIS. When Watts learns that the game’s creator, James Halliday, has left behind a treasure of wealth, Watts must compete with every other player to figure out the clues and find his way to the hidden money before others can.
Ready Player One, which stars T.J. Miller, Ben Mendelsohn, Simon Pegg and Mark Rylance, will be released on March 30, 2018.
