Wednesday kicks off Burger Week in the Port City. Sponsored by encoreGO!, Encore magazine’s official app, Burger Week runs May 13-20.

Five participating restaurants will serve up $5 burgers throughout the week: no coupons needed, just ask for the $5 burger.

Ogden Tap Room will offer a mushroom Swiss burger, an eight-ounce prime Angus burger topped with mushrooms, Swiss cheese, lettuce, tomato and onion and served on a Kaiser roll. There are 20-plus additional toppings available with an upcharge.

Sweet n Savory's Pub will feature its best-selling house burger known as the pub burger. The burger is prepared with a mix of ground short-rib brisket and ribeye. It’s topped with cheddar and Muenster cheeses, black pepper candied bacon, lettuce, tomato, onion and the house-made pub sauce and served on a bun baked fresh at neighboring Sweet n Savory Café.

Pine Valley Market will serve up its market burger, a six-ounce, fresh ground certified Angus beef patty, grilled to preference and topped with American cheese, lettuce, tomato and onion. Additional toppings are available with an upcharge.

King Neptune Restaurant at Wrightsville Beach will feature a special burger created just for this week: the “devil went down to Georgia burger,” a half pound of free-range certified Angus beef topped with a habanero devil sauce, fresh Georgia peaches, pepper jack cheese, lettuce and tomato. Customers can substitute a black bean patty or chicken breast at no extra charge.

Dig and Dive will offer its campfire burger, a ground chuck double cheeseburger topped with Heritage Farms apple-wood smoked bacon, roasted tomatoes and house-made D&D sauce.
