The teen used the family’s specially issued cellphone that allows the user to dial 911 to get help from police.“When you’re 15, that’s usually not what most kids might look for. This young man just wanted to go to school,” Fedorenchik said.Fedorenichik said she noticed there was no furniture inside the home, and while she was driving the boy to school, she asked him if they celebrated the holidays.“He told me they had never had a Christmas tree or anything like that his entire life, and he had mentioned, ‘If I’m lucky enough, my brothers and I would really love a PS3, but I’m not sure if that’s going to happen,’” Fedorenchick said.Fedorenchik said she spent her next days off posting the encounter on Facebook. Through the generosity of her co-workers, friends, family and her fellow law enforcement officers in the city of Delray Beach, they were able to collect presents, a Christmas tree, furniture and a PlayStation 3.The group made the delivery to the teen’s home Wednesday night.“I just wanted to see what I could do to try and make this better for this young man and his family,” Fedorenchik said.
