Easterval, Union Island’s celebrations of cultural traditions, sports, and pageantry, moves into high gear this weekend.
On Thursday, there will be the staging of the Fish Fest and Foam Fete. The Fish Fest will see performances from cultural croups from St. Vincent, Petit Martinique and Union Island.
Friday begins with the Guinness Street Football competitions, followed by basketball competition and a massive white fete at the Eagle’s Nest.
A T20 cricket competition will be held on Saturday, followed by the Easter Bunny and Beauty Pageant Parade, called Festival Day, in Clifton.
Saturday night, the Digicel 4G Hairoun Beer SLR Soca Fest will feature WCK out of Dominica, Lavaman and Skinny Banton from Grenada, as well as a number of local artistes.
There will be more T20 cricket on Sunday, with the re-introduction of the all-fours tournament.
This will be followed by the main event of Easterval 2014, the NLA Miss Easterval pageant, which will see seven contestants from Barbados, St. Lucia, Grenada, Trinidad, St. Vincent, Canouan and Union Island vying for the crown.
Easterval climaxes on Monday with J’ouvert and Monday Night Mas.
