The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon had a fantastic show this Monday, March 30, as Fallon interviewed and chatted with his two guests, Helen Mirren, who stars in Woman in Gold, and actor Oscar Isaac, who is starring in Ex Machina. The musical guest on the Tonight Show was Wale.

The Tonight Show began with host, Jimmy Fallon, walking onto the stage to a standing ovation. He welcomed the studio audience, then did his monologue, joking about news and current events. For example, Jimmy Fallon joked about “President Obama and his family possibly moving to New York City after his term is over. He is thinking about moving in with another ex-President.” Fallon imitated President Bill Clinton, saying “I was hoping for someone else.”

Then, Jimmy Fallon mentioned that Buzzfeed might be thinking about covering actual news, and Chris Christie’s stance against legalizing marijuana, calling any money made from selling it “blood money.”

Fallon then joked about problems that the airline, Jet Blue, was having, and he said “There is a new dating website for people who believe in ghosts. It’s the perfect place to meet your Boo.”

Host Jimmy Fallon also joked about a company that is making pants that has extra room in the crotch. He said “Or, as I like to call them, ‘pants.'” Fallon mentioned that the Cyclone ride at Coney Island got stuck yesterday, and riders ahd to exit it on foot.

The house band, The Roots, played Fallon to his desk, where he talked about Ethan Hawke, Pharrell, Ricky Gervais, and Michelle Obama coming up later this week. Then, he said that Helen Mirren is one of tonight’s guests, and Oscar Isaacs, from the movie, Ex Machina.

Fallon said “I saw a play over the weekend, called Hamilton, about Alexander Hamilton. Everybody’s great in this play. It’s about rapping, a musical about Alexander Hamilton, rapping.”

He said “I read something that really disturbed me. America’s kids rank number 30 in math in the world. We updated math in a comedy segment called Popular Mathematics.” Fallon said “David Duchovny + Eyeliner = Keith Urban. MTV’s Daria + a Twinkie = a Minion. Gargamel + a Megaphone = Dick Vitale. Tony the Tiger + Weed = Chester Cheeto.”

Then, Jimmy Fallon introduced actress Helen Mirren, who is back on Broadway in a new play. She related a story to host Jimmy Fallon saying that “I did a terrible, awful thing on the subway. We were running to catch the subway, and my hand was stuck in the door. A nice guy helped open the door so we could get in. The police came and asked ‘Who stopped the train?’ The man admitted to it, and the police took him off the train. If you’re watching, I owe you dinner, and flowers, and anything you want.”

Fallon mentioned when Alan Cummings came on the show and Alan talked about Helen making fun of hiss Crocs. She said “Alan, how can you be seen dead in those shoes?” However, she later tried them on, and found out that they were very comfortable. She said she “washes them in the dishwasher.”

Fallon said “We chipped in and got you a gift.” He presented her with Crocs with the British flag on them.

She said “I love them! Can I try them on right now?” Helen put them on, then talked with Fallon about the movie, Woman in Gold.

In the movie, Nazis stole a painting, and it became an iconic image connected with Vienna. The woman the movie is about said “That is my painting,” and she tried to get it back. Fallon showed a clip from the flick, and then the Tonight Show went to a commercial break.

Back from the break, Jimmy Fallon said that Helen Mirren’s accent was very proper and posh. Fallon asked her if her voice “sounded the same on helium.” They both inhaled helium from balloons, and Fallon asked her questions.

“Where do you keep your Academy Award?” Fallon asked.

“I keep my Academy Award on my bed,” she said. She asked Fallon to act like he was giving her an Academy Award, and she would give an acceptance speech, which she did. Fallon asked Helen a couple more questions, and just about any time that people speak in a high voice, it is kind of funny. Then, the Tonight Show went to yet another commercial break.

When the Tonight Show came back on, host Jimmy Fallon introduced the second guest, actor Oscar Isaacs, from the movie Ex Machina. Fallon talked with Oscar about how they were in London and a poet kept on performing “aggressively” to them at a bar.

Jimmy Fallon asked him about meeting Al Pacino. Oscar impersonated Pacino, and he said “It was nerve-wracking.” He told Pacino “You know Dog Day Afternoon? You were like a child actor in that. I mean, a great child actor, unself-conscious.” Oscar said that Pacino “loves emoticons, like the guy with the mustache.” He drew it, and Fallon said “He almost looks like the Pringles man.”

Fallon asked Oscar about the upcoming Star Wars movie, which Oscar will be in. He told Fallon that his uncle was a “huge fan,” and he had invited him to the set of Star Wars. He said that his uncle had made everyone shirts and handed them out. His uncle was asked “Do you want to be in the movie?” and he was made an extra.

Then, Jimmy Fallon talked with Oscar Isaacs about Ex Machina. Oscar told Fallon the plot of it, that a man builds a female robot, and it gets tested to see how human it acts. The clip that Fallon showed from the flick looked like the movie will be a pretty cool one.

The Tonight Show went to another commercial break, but when it returned, host Jimmy Fallon introduced the Tonight Show‘s musical guest, Wale. Wale performed a song from his latest album, The Album About Nothing, called The Girl’s On Drugs. Wale had the audience clapping along right from the start as he sang. As he sang, beautiful models paraded on the stage, dressed in black-and-white dresses. It was a fantastic song, and Wale sang it at a rapid-fire pace.

Monday night’s episode of the Tonight Show started off the week right, with host, Jimmy Fallon, interviewing his guests, actress Helen Mirren and actor Oscar Isaacs. Helen talked with Fallon about her movie, Woman in Gold, and agreed to answer a few of the questions after she inhaled helium.
