Paine College Cross Country Releases 2015 Schedule

AUGUSTA, Ga. (Cross Country) – The Paine College men's and women's cross country schedule was released on Tuesday and will feature a meet in the Lion's backyard.

"I am expecting the men's and women's cross country teams to be very competitive this season," said Interim Head Coach Nathan Cochran,  "We are looking for some great things out of our new recruits."

The Lions open the season at University of South Carolina Upstate on Sept. 4 in Spartanburg, S.C. The next week, on Sept. 12, Paine competes in the Furman University Classic in Greenville, S.C. On Sept. 19, the Lions go on the road again to Rock Hill, S.C. to run in the Winthrop Invitational.
The meet that will be in range for Paine College cross country fans to go to will be held by the University of South Carolina Aiken in Aiken, S.C. on Oct. 2. The Lions will also compete in the Division II Georgia Collegiate Championship on Oct. 10 in Milledgeville, Ga.

The last meet for Paine will be Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Cross Country Championship on Oct. 18 in Rock Hill, S.C.

"Our goal for our Men's and Women's program is to win the SIAC Cross Country Championship," stated Cochran, "Realistically, we are in the building stages of our program and I will be happy to be competitive with some of our top conference teams this season."

The South Regional Championships are slated for Nov. 12 in Tuscaloosa, Ala. and will be hosted by the University of Alabama. Should Paine be one of the top six teams at the regional meet or have runners finish with one of the top three times not from an already qualified squad, they will head to the NCAA Division II Championships on the campus of Missouri Southern State in Joplin, Missouri on Nov. 21.
