Lisa Kramer’s P.O.W.E.R. is a unique and imaginative story of a country where women are not allowed to express their individuality, intelligence or power, at the hands of the men who govern. Threatened by suspicions that women are gifted with intelligence and special powers, they forbid all women access to the written word and control their every move. Kramer takes us on a suspenseful and believable journey as Andra, the main character, risks her life as well as the life of her loved ones, in order to organize and mobilize a movement that will free all women.

I could relate to the different characters and their roles in working hard to create change. I also appreciated the fact that in no way was this a “man-bashing” story, although one might erroneously assume it to be so at first. Kramer portrays the opinions and actions of many “good” men who are eager for change and who support the women they love.

I absolutely loved this brilliant story and recommend it to readers of all ages.
