Update 4: Wounding in Curtin Street, Westcourt

Detectives continue their investigation into the unlawful wounding of a 60-year-old man in Curtin Street, Westcourt on Thursday October 9 at about 4.30 pm.

Yesterday police released an image of a man they believed may have been able to assist with their investigation.

Police have since spoken with the man who was unable to assist any further. The man is not a suspect in relation to this matter.

Today police have released further images of a man and a backpack.

Detective Sergeant Adrian Worth said, “We’ve had amazing media coverage of this job right from the start however we are yet to receive one call with information in relation to the man featured in these images.

Someone must recognise him or perhaps even the back pack.

Our detectives have done a lot of legwork on this case and obtained CCTV footage from businesses and homes and door knocked the area in an effort to identify people who may have information which may assist us.

I would urge anyone with information in relation to this case to contact police and that can be done anonymously via crime stoppers.”

A second man was seen fleeing the scene and is described as being of Caucasian appearance, with a slim build and was wearing shorts and a T shirt.

Police believe the man may be able to assist with this investigation.

Police urge anyone who may have information about this case to contact the Cairns CIB on 07 4030 7153 or Crime Stoppers.

Investigations are continuing.
