Terrifying moment U.S. tourist is left clinging to female traveller half-way along zip wire after Thai instructor forgot to attach his harness

An American tourist was left holding on for dear life after an instructor failed to attach him to a zip line in Thailand.
Captured on camera is the dramatic moment the man jumps from the platform with his friend before disappearing from view as the pair begin racing down the zip line.
According to Megan Reinhardt, who uploaded the video to YouTube, the incident occurred in the popular tourist area of Chiang Mai, after the employee forgot to connect the man's carabiner to the 1,300ft-long wire.

In the clip, the woman, who is attached correctly, can be heard screaming as her friend falls beneath her.
She looks down and videos the man holding onto the rope – he can be seen spinning while dangling a long way from the ground.
She then calls for him hold on, after noting that she is aware of what has gone wrong.

Due to the distribution of weight the pair are unable to make it to the other platform and suddenly find themselves moving along the zip line going in the opposite direction.

Later in the video an employee makes his way over to the pair – who are like sitting ducks at this point – and sets about rescuing the man.
The woman can be heard shouting for her friend to be connected as an instructor begins abseiling the zip line.

Eventually the man is rescued after an instructor abseils down to him and manoeuvres him to safety
The employee spends a great deal of time trying to get the man attached to the wire, but in the end opts to move the pair towards the platform.
At one point the man can be heard considering jumping down, but the instructor manages to keep the three of them moving and eventually they make it to the other side safely.
